I admit this is my first time playing in Detroit and the closest I've played to my hometown in the 419 since I started djing in 2017. I am grateful to be asked to play outside around 5pm and I hope to see the travelers there! ♥️

May Day Festival 🏵️

In the Bowl outside the Powderhorn Community Center

It's been 5 years since we organized the fundraiser and received our sound system from hundreds of small donations from the community after burrowing PA from friends to support protests, rallies, and benefits around South Minneapolis during the George Floyd Rebellion and onward. ✊🏾

In 5 years since 2021 we've popped up at May Day, timely, through all kinds of weather integrating dance music, the spirit of protesting, and the spirit of May Day in unity. 

This year we curated a special lineup of local taste makers that will keep us grooving all day leading to a closing set by AutoClub (LIVE) returning after a long hiatus. 

It's important to just say a lot of shit has gone down already in 2026.

Metro Surge deprived us of rest we usually get in the winter time. Federal officers harassed us, brutalized & kidnapped our neighbors, murdered Renee Good & Alex Pretti, and left our community in a state of duress psychologically. 

We've been gathering already since the beginning of the year and hopefully this gathering can continue to be a yearly reminder of what we fight for. 💜

We assemble again in-community at Park Avenue Church to continue to plan the next Mass Workers' Action against the authoritarians, billionaires, bosses, and the corrupt system that gave way to ICE.

Metro Surge left three Minnesotans shot, two dead,and thousands have been detained and still continue to suffer cruel detention.

This fight is not over and we know our' Free & Fair Elections are Next.'

Show up and engage in our direct & participatory democracy!

It's grown a lot since 2021 and there's going to be some changes to how we get input from the community, structure the day programming in the park, security, and harm reduction. There's a 501c3 & a board now for just paying for the infrastructure at cost, organizing the parade & the ceremony, and increasing communication amongst the various groups that make the day special.

After Iwant to host a day long picnic sometime after May Day for 5-6 hrs just to celebrate 5 years, w/ music, a protest art station, and zine table for old times sake. If you're interested in helping make that happen please reach out.🙏🏾

Sunday March 1st Fort Snelling Light Rail Station

This is being coordinated by an emergent group called Twin Cities Direct Action. We are staging this protest on Sunday morning and are calling on all people across the cities ready to confront federal occupiers in solidarity with our abducted neighbors and indigenous relatives to join us.🖤♥️

Due to the open hostility of the Hennipen Sherrifs in collaboration with their partners in ICE against this community, we recommend preparing yourself for chemical agents and less lethal projectiles. There will be medics on site for your safety.📣

Introducing Twin Cities Direct Action. We are a decentralized coalition of working class people engaged in various forms of community defense against the current Federal Occupation happening within the wider metro area, and against state and a far right violence more broadly.

The following decisions were made:

✅ Unanimously endorsed a Day of Action with No Work, No School, and No Shopping on May 1st!

✅ A plan to do outreach to the unions and build strike committees and “strike readiness” in union and non-union workplaces alike

✅A series of actions leading up to May Day.

✅ Support for new Tenants Union and their upcoming actions in defense of renters.

✅ A series of demands including Abolish ICE; No collaboration with ICE; End Deportations; Free all detainees and drop all charges against the resistance - and Land Back! Return Whipple & Ft Snelling to the Dakota people!

The St. Paul Principles were created in 2008 by diverse activist groups organizing to protest the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. They were developed to foster unity, manage different tactical approaches, and prevent internal conflict while facing potential state repression, ensuring respect for varied methods of action. 

Core Tenets

Respect for Diversity of Tactics: Actions are respected even if not supported, but different tactics are separated by time or space.

Solidarity: The focus is on mutual support and avoiding the disruption of other groups' actions.

Internal Critique: Debates are kept within the movement rather than acting as a means of public division.

Anti-Repression: A firm stance against collaborating with law enforcement to penalize other activists.

Its been 62 days since the federal government dispatched thousands of immigration enforcement officers to Minneapolis resulting in the shooting deaths of Keith Porter, Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and so many more. 

There is a perception here and I'm sure elsewhere that our Minnesotan neighborhoods are in contested territory and were under attack by own government. A shared sense that what is happening is happening - to us and not just our most vulnerable community members.

Minnesotans are responding to the moment courageously and staying engaged. Growing in connectivity in their communities in the shared labor of the most challenging tasks like: recognizing needs and performing mutual aid, legal observation of interactions with ICE, canvassing & informing each other of what's going on, providing mental health support, relief for people who've been jailed, neighborhood assemblies, and attending protests.

I am seeing so many new, innovative, and artistic ways my community members are reaching across what have been rigid class divisions and social stratification that previously made our most vulnerable community members appear invisible and at times unloved for so long. 

What's happening in our cities is raising working class consciousness resulting in general strikes, pickets outside businesses that have remained complacent, and outright financial boycotts of the worst of the corps.

These are dark times but I just again want to highlight how responsive people have been. The George Floyd Rebellion taught me Character is Revealed through Adversity. I see people every day demonstrating their abilities and new capabilities. Growth is happening and I hope if you're reading this you've had opportunities to reflect on what's changed about you during this moment? How have you begun to interact with others differently? What's important right now? Am I surrounding myself with people answering these questions in complimentary ways? 

A better world is possible though it takes people of character and great courage. ❤️🔥
