Mom's birthday was super... the village came thru strong to show her love. The love she pours was poured into her. She put on a great show, and released her own song 🎵 🙌🏾. Thank you @bootsy_bbq for serving the ppl, @theworldstage her many daughters & sons and friends who helped or supported her day. From her family we truly appreciate how you love our mother.

🪘 S.H.I.N.E. Mawusi Women’s African Drum Circle ft. V. Kali

Led by elder, activist, and cultural keeper Renee “Mama Nene” Fisher, the S.H.I.N.E. Mawusi brings the transformative power of West African drumming and song. With their commanding presence, sacred rhythm, and affirming energy, this all-women collective opens hearts and grounds us in ancestral strength and collective joy.

They will be joined by one of Los Angeles’s most beloved voices, poet V. Kali, widely regarded as the bedrock of The Anansi Writer’s Workshop at The World Stage.
