While working on @belief_defect - Desire and Discontent, we felt a compelling need to challenge ourselves by integrating acoustic instruments into our digital framework. The first person we thought of for a collaboration was our old friend, the exceptionally skilled drummer and electronic music producer @merlin_ettore , aka @sorcery_music . His ability to seamlessly fuse raw acoustic percussion with harsh electronic textures made him the perfect counterpoint to our vision.

Merlin’s live performances are a relentless display of polyrhythmic intensity, leaving a profound, almost visceral impact. His impeccable timing and flawless sense of rhythm are a testament to his mastery as a drummer — his inner clock is unparalleled. His command of both acoustic drums and analog machinery added a weight and complexity to our work that was the much-needed addition we were looking for. He contributed drums to Void State, injecting the track with an escalating, almost feverish tension that was essential to the song’s final breakdown. Although processed samples of his drums can be heard throughout the album, his presence as a live performer also anchors the opening track, The Difference Between Objects, where his percussion weaves a darker, more menacing energy into the fabric of the album.

Drumcell is a renowned techno producer and DJ from the darker, hypnotic realms of the Los Angeles electronic underground. He began DJing and creating music in the late 1990s, immersing himself in industrial and techno scenes. His sound blends intricate layers of raw, industrial textures with a deep, hypnotic groove.

A true architect of the underground.
From the early 90s roots to shaping his sound through the 2000s, Drumcell has built a trajectory defined by precision, evolution, and depth. Known for his hypnotic, driving techno, his sets are not just heard… they’re experienced.

Founder of Droid Behavior, a pillar of the Los Angeles techno movement, he has consistently pushed the culture forward and is an honor for us to have him on this night April 18th
bridging raw warehouse energy with refined sonic design.
