This month’s Sayawan is an ode to the hands that held us first. A week after Mother’s Day, but remembering them in every day.

Behind every selector is a story. And behind so many of those stories is a mother, a lola, an auntie, a parent-figure—someone who held it down, kept things moving, and carried more than we probably understood at the time. ❤️‍🔥

So for Vol. 03, we wanted to slow down and look a little closer at the people soundtracking this one. Not just as selectors, but as sons shaped by memory, migration, and the women who raised them. 🌸🌼

Alongside resident pal Pat, we’re welcoming Asa and Drem for their first-ever Secret Pals appearance; and for this carousel, we asked them about the mothers behind the music: where their families are from, the moments that stayed with them, the dishes that still taste like home, and the things they’re proud to have carried forward. 🏡

What came back were stories of wet markets, long drives, kitchen counters, family tables, names filled with meaning, and the kind of love that keeps showing up in the smallest, steadiest ways.

So this one goes out to the mothers, the memories, and the quiet inheritances we’re still learning to name. The ones that live on in the music, and in us.

You’ll find all of that in this carousel. A little family album.
A little love letter. A little something to honour the people who held us first.

This one’s for anyone who knows what it means to carry a little home with them. However you found your way here, we’re glad you did.

See you up top, pals. 💖✨

Vol. 03 is just round the corner and this month, we’re leaning into something close to home. ❤️‍🔥🇵🇭

With Mother’s Day in the air, this one is our little ode to the motherland: to the hands & hearts that held us, to our parents who left home chasing better futures, and to how many of us found our way here to Singapore carrying all that with us.

So for this month’s Sunday Sayawan, we’re soundtracking the suburbs, the barrios, and the homes we grew up in; with the urban and soulful sounds that raised us. Think 90s and 00s hip-hop + R&B, slow jams and a dash of 80s ballads and Filipino classics that still hit every time. The kind of music our parents loved, the kind we grew into, and the kind that somehow still brings us all back.

This one feels extra special too. Alongside resident pal Pat, we’re welcoming Asa and Drem for their first-ever Secret Pals appearance: sons of the motherland, shaped by different corners of the world, bringing with them songs and sounds that tell their stories, and hopefully speak to a few of ours too.

And as always, this isn’t just for us. It may be Filipino-coded, but the door stays wide open: for anyone who wants to listen, feel something, and share a Sunday with us. Come as you are. Bring your people. We’d love to have you in the room.

See you up top, pals. 💖✨
