Today we celebrate World Bipolar Day, a time to shed light on our community and the realities of living with bipolar disorder!

To honor this day, we invited Wendy Ingram, PhD, to the podcast. She’s the founder of Dragonfly Mental Health @dragonfly_mh, a nonprofit that has reached over 75,000 academics in 38 countries. In 2025, Wendy received the Mogens Schou Award for Public Service and Advocacy from the International Society for Bipolar Disorders.

We believe in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and highlighting the resilience of those navigating bipolar every single day. 💪

Wendy’s story is a reminder of what’s possible when we show up for each other. Listen with a peer, share it with someone who needs it, or simply take it in for yourself.

On Monday we celebrate World Bipolar Day.

To honor this day, we invited Wendy Ingram, PhD, to the podcast. She’s the founder of Dragonfly Mental Health @dragonfly_mh , a nonprofit that has reached over 75,000 academics in 38 countries.

Stigma keeps so many from seeking the care they need.

In this episode, Wendy sheds light on how we can break down stigma, from peer support to mental health literacy, with strategies our bipolar community can implement.

Episode drops Monday March 30th. 🎙️

What’s one thing you wish more people talked about openly?

Education helps. 📚
Human connection helps more. 🤝

But in academia, sharing lived experiences can feel risky. 😬

So, we built a model that respects the complexity of academic culture 🏛️ while still creating real connections.

Because context matters.

⚖️ Balancing research, teaching, mentoring, and service is a difficult task. Add hiding your mental health struggles to the list and it can become untenable. 😔

The emotional labor of silence can be just as heavy as the workload itself. 🌊

Creating safer cultures isn’t optional, it’s essential. 🗝️
