It’s been a decade since I took this photo and it’s one I return to often. Incredible to witness the growth of Dot’s career album after album. It’s as electrifying now as it was then. I am grateful to have been a thread in the tapestry.

Its hard to overstate the influence of the Ferguson uprising on the world.
The brilliant and relentless activism of Black St Louis created a framework for 21st century resistance to and dismantling of racist systems. And the coast to coast uprisings in June of 2020 have a direct lineage to the work of Ferguson organizers.
Black liberation is tied to the freedom of all people. It is not only economic in nature and is not only limited to criminal justice. True freedom for everyone exists only when the freedom of movement, self-determination & expression for Black people is achieved. None of us are free until all of us are free. And to achieve that requires an active, anti-racist mindset.
This project took a tireless effort from people who were never certain there was a light at the end of the tunnel, that such a film would be distributed by major platforms. And what a team it was @sabaahfolayan @damondavis @cmcnabb22 @mooshidofilms @cocomamba @samorapinderhughes @jas_mrtn and so many more.
