Introducing Clarinet, Saxophone & Kaval instrumentalist, Ollie!

Joined the band in London, ‘my first gig was the album launch, we first met that same day for a run through before the gig, I was really nervous, some of the band weren’t too pleased to have a new member appear on the day of such an important gig! The tunes are really tricky and they helpfully changed the keys of some of the hardest ones on the day! In the end, the gig was amazing, they accepted me into the group and it’s been a beautiful and unique project to be a part of ever since!’

A memory with the band? A traumatic but funny memory, was getting stopped at the Bulgarian Turkish border at 3am whilst on tour for a harsh interigation as to what I was planning to do in Turkey. The border guard wouldn't believe I was there to play music and kept asking me what I was planning to do after Istanbul, I couldn't remember the names of the places we were going. It started to get pretty hairy until he made me play my clarinet for him - "SOMETHING TURKISH", once he was satisfied that I could play he completely changed his attitude, kissed my hand, told me he loved me and started showing me videos of Turkish clarinet players on his phone!

Through the ethereal and rural, kanun and kaval played by @konstantinosglynos and @dover.oliver meet around the table to praise the past memories, smells and tastes of childhood summers —> March 25th at @sense__ability

🌾 The feeling of barley fields brushing our palms during eternal daydreaming walks.

The smell of hand picked lavender steaming and ready to sooth the soul.

The aftermath of dancing and singing, across and next to each other, while the sacred oaks illuminate and warm up our red euphoric faces under the starry night.

Sound will always be in the core of it, the air to breathe and remember.

Music will be the spark, the colours, personal and unique, to each one of us, to form it and shape it, into the happiest place to return to!

@idrisi.ensemble brought Mediterranean medieval and traditional music to life at a sold-out KOKO performance, from centuries-old Roman chants to Corsican and Greek polyphonies.
