It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of dear Sheila Daniel, my mum and Fearless queen who left us on Monday morning (9th of Feb). She was a truly remarkable woman who led a really interesting life in her 92 years, coming over to the UK from Grenada when she was 19 in 1953. She dedicated 45 years service to the NHS working as a nurse, over 20 of those on the district helping countless people. She was warm hearted, funny and opinionated and had that special magnetism that drew people to her.There’s an African proverb that says when an elder dies a library burns to the ground. I’m so grateful that we have preserved a bit of that library in our film Fearless. The last couple of months have been difficult but I’m so glad that she is finally at peace and pain free. After being a nomination at this years @irisprize ‘Man Enough’ is now available to watch on @film4 @channel4 Based on the true life experience of writer and actor Alfie Jallow @alfie.jallow who is black and trans. The film recounts a tense situation at a family event which our character Caleb is having to deal with due to transphobia. Directed by the brilliant Beru Tessema for @royalacademyofdramaticart it’s great to see this film out there.

Fearless is now officially in consideration for next years BAFTAs! @bafta this photo with brilliant moderator @saminakiyanitv was taken from our first BAFTA members screening. This is all down to the cinema release we had in the summer so huge huge thanks to the cinemas that believed in the film and our wonderful women and screened to packed out audiences during that time. Brilliant that short film ‘Man Enough’ has been selected for this years @irisprize As one of 15 short listed films, not only will it be showing on the big screen in November, it will also be broadcast on @film4 @channel4 as well as being an automatic entry into @bafta & @bifa_film awards. Based on the true life experience of writer and actor Alfie Jallow @alfie.jallow who is black and trans. The film recounts a tense situation at a family event which our character Caleb is having to deal with due to transphobia.
