Inis Mór, Aran Islands 🏝️
One of those places that genuinely stops you in your tracks.
Doolin Ferries stop at two of the islands - Inis Mór is the one you want. Rent an electric bike when you get there, or hop in a van or a pony and trap if cycling isn’t your thing. First ferry out is the way to go, you’ll want the full day.

Two of my favourite highlights:
Dún Aonghasa, an Iron Age fort perched on the edge of a 100-metre cliff. That’s it. That’s the description. Go see it.
The Wormhole, Red Bull held their cliff diving series here in 2014 and 2017. Worth knowing: it’s a solid 10–15 min walk from the road.
But honestly? The whole island just feels like proper old Ireland. Stay the night if you can,it’s a completely different place once the last ferry leaves.

We left the laptop open for five minutes and honestly, the rain is making some incredibly valid points today. Who are we to argue?

If you’re heading over on one of our morning ferries and heading back at 4:15 PM, you’ve got a solid few hours to play with, but Inis Mór is bigger than it looks!

To make sure you aren't spending the whole day checking your watch, here’s one way to see the best bits without any stress:

- The Aran Off-Road Experience. Skip the long walks/cycles and hop in with the local brothers who run this. They’ll take you across their own private land in 4x4s to get you front-row seats at The Wormhole and Dún Aonghasa
- Refuel at Teach Nan Pháidí. It’s the cosiest thatched cottage you’ve ever seen. Grab a cup of tea (and maybe a slice of cake, you’re on holiday, after all).
- Early dinner at the Aran Seafood Café. You can't come to the middle of the Atlantic and not try the seafood. Trust us, it’s as fresh as it gets.
- The Scenic Route. The lads will whisk you back to the pier just in time for your ferry, passing by the stunning Kilmurvey Beach on the way.

It’s the perfect way to see the "wild" side of the island and still be back in Doolin in time for a pint by the fire.
