I first started dreaming on “Hawaiian Aoxomoxoa” in 2016 when my bro Brian Chambers flew me down to SF to meet the lovely Ida Griffin, widow of the most legendary and influential psychedelic poster artist in the world, the mystic maestro,Rick griffin.RIP 🙏😌We talked about me recreating Rick’s art in glass , and I was given the great blessing by Ida to render his unique and groundbreaking art into borosilicate.I remember very well this magical day 🌈✨ We were all hanging out at @mars_1_ downtown home studio talking about psychedelic art and poster history and right upon receiving this blessing from Ida, I had a strong urge to be alone . I walked out to Mario’s back porch, where I sat in meditation for a while just sitting with the feelings of what seemed like a crazy challenge that I wasn’t sure I had the skills or vision to embark on . At that thought, my mind’s eye was then confronted powerfully by flashing and changing images of Ricks face , first as a young man , then transforming through all the phases of his life that we’ve seen through photos: young surfer guy, rascally pirate, bearded hippy, regular middle aged biker dude etc …. And then finally the image rested back on the classic bearded hippie Rick of the late 60’s , which wasn’t too far off from looking in a mirror as I was also quite the bearded, bead-wearing longhair at the time. 📿At this point I felt a sense of my energy shifting from questioning my own worthiness— to absolute certainty and embodiment . Im a bit of a muggle and Ive not typically been the biggest cheerleader of the paranormal, but it felt like I was in contact with the ghost of Rick Griffin that afternoon and the message I received was “you got this, you can do it, and I give you my blessing as well”
It was a powerful experience that Ive never talked about until this moment, but I’ve held it close to my heart for many years. It wasn’t time to start melting yet but the seed was planted that day. After a proper period of germination , I’m super stoked to see it bloom. Sending big love and gratitude to the Chambers and Griffin families , who I am SO very honored to be able to call my friends. 🙏😌💚

It came as no surprise to anyone to see this incredible Bicycle Day pendant from the master of all things micro Dan Hoffman take home the first place trophy! This small but mighty masterpiece has everything, beautiful colours, perfectly executed milli work, stunning wig wag & of course Dans signature micro work beautifully tells the story of the man behind the milli. On April 19th 1943 Albert Hofmann ingested 250 micrograms of LSD, intending to test its effects, after having previously synthesised it. As it was during war time Albert took his bicycle home resulting initially in a rather anxious ride for poor old Albert. After some perseverance and some much needed reassurance from a Doctor that he was physically ok Albert started to enjoy the effects that resulted in vivid, kaleidoscopic images. Every year on the 19th of April Albert’s first trip is celebrated all around the world, Bicycle Day! Congratulations Dan!

The Story Behind “Succulent Fire” (part 1)
When I began exploring the freeze-and-fuse process with borosilicate glass, the path forward was anything but straightforward. Working with scientific glass came with steep challenges, and early attempts were marked by repeated failures as I struggled to unlock a reliable process.
When success finally came, it opened the door to an entirely new visual language—one that allowed me to replicate a single form multiple times while exploring subtle shifts in color, gradient, and translucency. What began as experimentation slowly became possibility.
This body of work laid the foundation for a collaboration I couldn’t have imagined at the start. I’m forever grateful to Jon for trusting the process and working with me to bring this incredibly special piece into the world.

There are few true OGs in this industry, and @suellenfowlerflameworkglass is one of the best. If you ever get your hands on one of her pieces, you know how much detail is packed into such a small package. Shot during @champsglassgames 💜🏺🔥

⚡️ ELECTRUM ⚡️ 🦠 ION 🦠
Awesome colors from @moltenaura
These are sold, thanks Gerry!

My winning entry @champsglassgames for the “expand your consciousness” category this summer in Las Vegas. See you at Masters!!!
Technical stuff for glass heads⬇️
Electrum under layers of coral floral tech with Ion and crushed opal accents over custom blow outs and dill mixed tones. The faces were sculpted live out of @northstarglass cads with no encasement. The marbles are multiple layers or coral floral tech with stringers from multiple pulls so lots of different variations of you look closely. It’s a 14mm 2 hole stemless that semi percs thru the larger head and makes a great chop that’s perfect for any medium.

Artistic stuff ⬇️
When presented a prompt as broad as this it’s important to have a mixture of mass appeal and uniqueness to connect with the audience while staying true to my current efforts. This piece is a celebration of potential experiences an individual can receive through the action of interacting with various compounds found on our rock. The base head, or the “can” embodies the inner self and exploding from the head are other smaller heads creating a “totem” like effect. As this sculpture rises towards the sky the expressions expose the ego and diminish not only in detail, but also from external influences of the physical. The marble base represents the fragility of the mind and true self if one chooses to explore the path. Long story short; I don’t do these things… but apparently these things can expand my consciousness allowing me to do more genuine and creative art? Also super dangerous… my heads busy enough!
Big thanks to the judges @danhoffmanglass
@lacefaceglass @ethan_windy it’s an honor to make cool stuff and have cool people actually judge it in a competitive setting. Thanks to the Jedis, Drake, Hugh, The Philpots, Kevin, the Dankmans, and the rest of the games team not only for throwing great comps but also for being kind and welcoming.
