After 16 years of working with Finisterre, I’ve decided it’s the right moment to step back and let the next chapter unfold, for both me and the brand.

I joined as the seventh employee in 2009, back when we were shifting a few jackets a week and trying to work out who we were and what we stood for.

Some of the clearest memories are from those early trips, hunkering down in the old tents on cold headlands, watching the horizon for the first lines of impending swell.

Those moments taught us a lot about ourselves and the brand we were becoming.

We latched onto those tents and what they stood for: the environments we put them in, the people who embodied the attitude, and the gear we needed to take us there.

They brought us warmth in the cold, camaraderie in isolation, and revelry in the rewards the ocean gave.

Together, we built something special at Finisterre, an amazing brand with the potential to sit alongside the best in the world. A brand with depth, character, authenticity and community at its core, all of which still runs through its veins.

I’m especially proud of the photography and storytelling we created along the way. We collected content on tiny budgets, hiked cameras over clifftops, camped in rough weather, chased fleeting windows of light and swell, and embraced the challenger-brand mentality. We endured the hardship, and we shared the reward.

There are far too many people to thank individually, but I hope everyone I’ve worked with over the years knows the impact they’ve had.

As I move on, I’m excited to see how Finisterre evolves. There’s huge things ahead, and I’ll always be proud to have been part of its story.

To all @finisterre, keep charging, @tommykay7, what a ride.
