LYING is a durational, choreographed, singing sculpture by Sara Sachs, with original music by Angel Deradoorian. At its center lies Climax: a young cat and the protagonist (though she doesn’t know it). Murmurations of Comte de Lautréamont’s 1868 prose poem LES CHANTS DE MALDOROR create a depraved backdrop of glamorous and grotesque cruelty as Climax is trapped or protected in a part-real, part-proverbial closet. She is questionably guided by a chorus of inadequate aunts, failed caretakers, liars, and gentlemen. Then the closet doors open.

Sara Sachs works in the sculptural outskirts of fashion, the unhinged intersections of art and theatre, and recent projects have primarily materialized on screens and stages. In 2009, Sachs co-founded the avant-garde label Moonspoon Saloon with Danish artist Tal R.

We are at a breaking point in this era of late stage, neoliberal capitalism.

Where our money goes matters. I, sadly, still have music on this stupid platform. I am an exhausted artist and student on the autism spectrum. This is all very stressful to figure out while being busy and broke.

There is now even more work we musical artists have to do to not get robbed by AI on several of these platforms. Not just stupid-ass Spotify!!

Musical artists now have to make crucial decisions about where their music is accessible. This means we are making MORE financial sacrifices if we disagree with these platform’s terms.

If you want my music and are too broke to afford my already reasonably priced albums, you can email me and we can work something out.

But please, for the love art, for the love of humanity, stop subscribing to this shit. It is damaging us. We all have to make sacrifices now.

I have a lot more work to do on my side, I am aware. And I understand how this country has gutted the people financially forcing us to SUBSCRIBE to everything. They take more money from you in one month than some of us make in a year.

As the genocide of the Palestinian people continues — and the world turns its back under the guise of a false ceasefire — we show up again in Los Angeles as united musical workers, friends, and lovers of justice.

We stand with Jewish Voice for Peace, Palestinian Youth Movement, and all who refuse to look away.

We raise our voices to call out:

• the ongoing assault on Palestinian life and dignity
• the repulsive “ceasefire” engineered by colonial powers
• the U.N. Security Council’s approval of a U.S. plan imposing a guardianship regime over Gaza
• the Israeli bill advancing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners — many held without charge — condemned globally as a violation of international law

On November 29, join us as M4PO at L.A. City Hall.
