Denise Burnside has been in the music industry for what seems like forever. Starting as a bassist in the Montreal based riot grrrl band BITE in the early 90s, she returned to Seattle in the mid-90s, continuing to create music and worked on the line at Pike Place Market. Serendipitously, this was when The Showbox was reopening as a music venue, so she got her foot in the door and worked every odd job she could until becoming General Manager (while also a touring musician). Denise joined KEXP in 2005, and grew to become their COO & CFO, with her crowning achievement overseeing the design and build of KEXP’s New Home at Seattle Center. Denise co-founded The Clock-Out Lounge, served as SMASH’s first Executive Director, and now runs her own consulting business, Kinetic Integrated, which supports creative companies with project management and financial leadership.

Lucky for me my birthday falls during our spring vacations and we celebrated with a wonderful dinner @forbes_meat_company and the day after we relaxed at @jwstarrpass pool and lazy river. I had a wonderful and educational evening at the @burkemuseum. @kyle_maclachlan was a delightful host of the evening and here is a little video clip of him thanking @missmichael77 for her work to crate and execute the beautiful event! I got to chat with Kyle for a few minutes and he was so genuine and warm. Such a fun night! Congratulations Michael and the Burke team on your hard work and creativity bringing this event to life.
