In the fall of 2023 I had a miscarriage in the most unexpected way, while on a zoom call with a manager I greatly admire. As this shocking and comical experience unfolded, I knew that this story had to be made into a short film.

Through the brilliant words of @shannoncorbeil and @brianpleahy, we explored the bittersweet experience of losing a baby when you know the pregnancy is not viable and the absurd expectations society puts on women.

Miscarriage is INCREDIBLY common. A 2016 survey found that, despite miscarriage having impacted 15–20% of pregnancies (now closer to 30%), more than half of the respondents wrongly believed that it happened in 5% or fewer pregnancies, reinforcing the false narrative that miscarriage is an outlier or a one-in-a-million chance. 47% report feelings of guilt, 41% feel they did something wrong, and 41% report that they feel alone.

With Glitterbomb, we hope to change the narrative and the statistics. We want to kickstart a long overdue conversation about the complicated feelings around miscarriage and the severe lack of discussion about women’s clinical health, women’s mental health, and infertility.

We have a lot planned for this project and are so grateful to the incredible people who made this project a reality.
