When I first got to campus, I did not think that serving on a court was for me. It wasn’t until my junior year that I felt called to run for this position. The impact that the women in this organization left on me prior to serving was exactly what inspired me. And during my reign, my girlZ were always supportive, encouraging, and loving to me and my Brother KingZ.

So, to the Ladies of the Quintessential Alpha Chapter, I want to say thank you. Thank you for allowing me to represent you. Thank you for allowing me to reviving this legacy. And thank you for being apart of my community.

oh to be a bison…

it was an honor to be asked to for the student address at the college of fine arts graduation. i was absolutely shocked when i got the call from our assistant dean and she asked me to speak. when i was writing, i wasn’t sure where to start. but i thought more about my journey and i knew the best place to start would be from the beginning. my howard experience started way before i arrived to campus on august 10, 2022. my howard experience started at the jessye norman school of the arts(@the_jnsa). without ever meeting her, jessye norman shaped my experience around the arts, education, and inclusivity. finding out that she was a daughter of howard university felt like a destiny fulfilled. thank you to all who have supported me from jnsa to dfa to the real hu. i love all of you deeply and would be nothing without you.

remember: we represent something larger than ourselves.

i want to say thank you for everyone’s overwhelming support yesterday during the show and throughout this entire journey. d.e.constructed started as a catchy name for a class project and is now turning into something bigger than i can imagine.

thank you to my professors who supported and guided me through this collection. thank you to my models for showcasing my creations in such a beautiful way. thank you to my friends for being my personal on-campus cheerleaders. and finally, thank you to my family, my support system for keeping me encouraged through my matriculation.
