"The Country authenticity in his voice is pure old-world flavor. He has a twang, not quite at the level of Randy Travis, but what pours forth is furnished with gradients that make his Country music stylistically upbeat, high-energy & filled with straw & a perfection to form... His voice when singing straight is warm & blissfully lost in the hayseed groove... This has good dance vibes, great beat application, & he maintains a mainstream appeal without getting too sugary & commercial. The tunes have a catchiness, while being introspective & adventurous... I’m impressed with his clever word use, the verses & instrumentation... Buck Owens meets Larry Weiss meets Gram Parsons... The sound is pristine, & the songs are built solidly... Lots of nuggets to discover if you appreciate old-school country music with the expertise of a wonderful artist with a modern touch."

Designed for a good time, it is, however, not without a sense of introspection, and a self-awareness of how life can deal you a bad hand and let you play it out for better or worse. You can do that to a shuffle beat on a barroom floor or sitting in your own home - and you feel good in either situation... There are shades of those artists who preceded him in the iconic shape of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, The Desert Rose Band and Dwight Yoakam... These are songs that Serby can relate to the characters he writes about, which doubtless contain directly felt emotions but also ones that are broad enough for anyone to relate to.
