Today, our new band Tigerhound (@mackinthedestroyer + @danloump) released its first EP, “The Big Nothing Band” - available for purchase on Bandcamp and streaming everywhere.

We worked on these tracks starting a few years ago. Each session coming in with nothing and leaving with what ended up being the near complete final version of a song, written and recorded.

Making these songs together allowed this project to be totally different and fresh compared to what we’ve made separately.

We’ve been quietly tinkering away at this and it’s finally ready and we can’t wait for you to hear it.

We’re printing a small number of cassettes and donating the profits to @altadenamusicians, a group that’s helping a community that’s still in need. Mackin was displaced by the Eaton Fire and groups like this helped him rebuild so he could get back to making music. It’s been over a year and the news has moved on, but so many are still in need in this community and Altadena Musicians is helping people replace instruments and make music.

The cassette will include the EP plus a fully scored and sound designed DND one-shot adventure (performed by us), loosely inspired by the songs themselves. Link to pre-order one in @mackinthedestroyer’s bio or at bignothingband.bandcamp.com~

Ten years ago, @freddykennett and I took a break from making music to make a midnight run to Walgreens for some caffeine. I stopped to take this picture of the snow against this lamp post, and when we got back to his parents place we decided we wanted to make a piece that sounded like how that picture made us feel.

We recorded our shoes crunching in the snow outside his house, my voice singing harmonies through an iPhone mic, sent the main synth through a thousand iterations of trash 2, percussion from smacking shit on the desk, explored and poked at it until it felt right
