This photo was taken in Hawaii back when the majority of the world wasn’t barring travel from South Africa. Even though we haven’t been able to go overseas, we have been so blessed to rediscover and go to new places close to where we are, within the limitations.

One of those places has been Montagu here in the Western Cape. We had the honour of staying at @StilMontagu whilst exploring the town and got to meet the warmest hosts Martly and Hanno. They in collaboration with @hendrebloeminteriors have created such a peaceful haven, filled with the most unique design elements that just inspire creativity.

We also got to make a Lebanese meal with @sophialindopcooks, which made me instantly feel comfortable amongst all the laughter and compassion.

This experience was a beautiful reminder that no matter where you are, there are places waiting to be explored, different cultures to learn about and people that will make it beautiful.

Thank you to everyone behind the scenes that made this possible and for allowing us to just be ourselves in front of the camera 🤗

Time simply passing can be a cause for anxiety, because it can make you feel like you are falling behind.

This song by @JackGarrat was a reminder at the start of lockdown last year (which we’re still in) that maybe time doesn’t have to be against you, and maybe it’s actually on your side. It’s taken a lot to try and believe that.

Some days it feels like time is so for you, other days it feels like time exists to personally attack you, but regardless of how you are feeling, time will go on.

One thing that has helped me to deal with time is talking to those close to me about the possible triggers that are causing the anxiety, experiencing/ taking note of feelings as they happen to allow your body to process and focussing on the present day. Knowing that God is constant as He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow has also brought peace.

A lot of the frames in this video are different. There’s lighter scenes and darker ones with more shade, it’s like life, not every moment is going to be “the perfect shot”, but all those frames woven together are still part of your beautiful life story as time goes on.

It’s ok not to feel ok that time is passing. I just hope you know you’re not alone and that talking about where you’re at and asking for help is a part of your healing too. One day we might be able to fully accept that time is on our side. In the mean time if you’d like some prayer or just to let someone know where you’re at feel free to message ❤️

I’m still here. It’s been so scary to even think of posting the past few months through living with anxiety, bouts of depression, uncertainty and the odd panic attack that just takes a whole lot longer than you thought to heal from.

The thing is I’ve really missed being able to contribute to life, but I’ve felt like I haven’t been able to add anything, whether that’s replying to a message, answering a FaceTime, commenting, viewing, liking, or physically being there for those I love.

The reality is every single day I constantly think of and send love to people, but most times it becomes too overwhelming to actually translate that into something tangible for them to experience or receive.

This is me saying I’m going try be there more, by communicating, expressing the beautiful things, showing gratitude, sharing creativity, supporting others and being honest out loud when things get difficult.

I love content creation/ just creating and have been doing so much of that behind the scenes for some incredible people, but I’d love to try be brave enough to share on here even if it terrifies me. I’ve honestly been waiting for a better time, but that hasn’t seemed to come and in that time almost 3 years has passed and so much life has happened which I would be so grateful to share.

❤️ So here’s to doing things even if you’re scared, or think it’s too much of a stretch, or think your story doesn’t matter enough to share it. Let’s just do it anyways because you deserve the opportunity to even try. Your voice could be the light in someone else’s day ❤️

I love this man. This man who has always respected me, loved me, cared for me, taught me, held me, who has supported me through my journey of PTSD, depression and anxiety, this man who I trust, this man who has the most giving heart, this man who is a talented musician, this man who brings joy into rooms, this man who is kind, this man who is fiercely loyal, this man who is hilarious, this man who shows up, this man who loves people, this man who bakes the best chocolate chip cookies, this man who brings peace, this man who inspires, this man who is patient, this man who listens, this man who prays, this man who loves God with everything in him.

This man is Majozi. This is the man I treasure, not because of his appearance but because of who he is.

This human is a black man and a big chunk of my heart. I recognise and have come to learn that we don’t go through all the same struggles in life.

It breaks me knowing that other men and woman who look like Maj are the targets of racial discrimination and held back by systems that often weren’t designed with them in mind.

Please know that not one individual is the person you perceive them to be because of their race. Everyone can love and is loved by so many. Please open up your eyes to experience WHO people are, not what they look like.

Compassion is what will lead us forward in protecting those around us. Compassion is what helps us stand up against injustice. We need to increase our capacity for compassion.

I know that not every country is the same, but every country can still strive to be more united. I know that other minorities struggle too, but for now this is our focus, you have not been forgotten, we see you.

Please educate yourselves on the history of racism, how you can be a part of the solution, how to be anti-racist, what your privileges are, how you can create opportunities for communication, how you can use your voice (if even with just one person), how you can be a hinge of history. We are all accountable.

I acknowledge I am not perfect, but I will try to be better everyday.

We must all grow. We must all love.

To learn is to love, and to love is to learn ❤️ What does that mean? Well, for me, to continuously learn new things means to love yourself and those around you. Never settling with the knowledge or skills that you have but always trying to enhance, amplify and help others with what you know. Whether you believe it or not, you are an asset not just to yourself but the community you are in. You have reach 🙌🏻 What you know, has a platform, even if it’s just in a conversation or boardroom or stage in front of thousands. That first sentence incites you to take action, whether you learn to love or love in order to learn. Be present and grow. Choose to be observant with the people you adore, read an extra article on a topic that intrigues you, find out the mechanisms behind inventions, study why some songs touch and invigorate your soul, speak to someone unexpected a little longer, ask for wisdom and the ability to understand, and then implement it every day 👊🏻 This is easy to type, probably easier to read and harder to live out, but one thing I know is that having an inquisitive mind makes life exciting 💃🏻 Even if it doesn’t look that way on the outside 😅 So, why am I showing you one of the most beautiful libraries in the world…because on the inside…metaphorically speaking…you are also an incredible library full of knowledge and experiences. Good News People. I love them 🙌🏻 There’s something so beautiful about being able to bring positivity into the lives of others, and it’s something we should all really strive for, especially when your season seems to be attacking your soul. That sounds super dark 😶, but what I mean is that sometimes what is happening in your world can be pretty disheartening 😕 You see, it’s actually a choice to speak of good news when the opposite is trying to take the lead. The past weeks have been full of unfortunate personal events. One day I’ll actually talk about them and we can all laugh at the reality of having to spend two consecutive Sundays at a police station filing two separate reports 😅 Eish, why I mentioned that, is because, when things happen to you, yoh, that can honestly hurt, but through it all there are still miracles at work....there is good news 👊🏼 You survived and you are stronger for the journey ahead. You having lived through these moments is the good news to another person, that could be going through a similar experience right now. You are their testimony, that it gets better 👏🏼 Strength helps you to share, allow the scenarios to make you strong, so you too can be a good news person! In the midst though, it is so important to be a part of a loving, supportive and encouraging community (if you aren’t, find one, or spend time creating a family).
