“Every moment of the present contains the seeds of opportunity for change.” - Dr. Francis Walker

Climate justice isn’t solely about how we care for the land, but how we show up to care for one another.

For many land stewards and community caretakers, this kind of reciprocity isn’t new; it’s a necessary way of being. Collectively, we understand that stewardship is a sacred responsibility and a deep commitment to relationships with the land, water, and peoples rooted in a place.

The Center for Cultural Power uses art and storytelling for climate justice. We guide people in collaborative climate work and building a shared future. Join our reflection on protecting the land, civic participation, and collective action for a brighter climate future.

Yesterday, we introduced you to our Spring Cultural Response Cohort, and today, we’re honored to share the first message emerging from our crew.

Candice Antique (@Candice_Antique) arrives with a poignant message and reflections on American history, life, and society. While capitalism values new and MORE, over antique and ENOUGH, Candice calls us to pass down the power of inheritance as resistance. The knowledge she shares calls us to reflect on how colonialism still impacts our community’s psyche, and the way we observe and manage change in the world.

🧐Who in your life values anti-capitalist and anti-colonial practices as ways of knowing?

Following the success of our first Cultural Response Cohort, our Cultural Organizing team is excited to announce the expansion of this initiative. This year, we are welcoming two new groups of innovators to help shape and inspire our civic engagement narrative work.

Please join us in celebrating the members of our Spring Cultural Response Cohort: Bertram Williams aka Big Farma (@bertrambuilds), Candice Antique (@candice_antique), and Marlené Nansi Lopez, Public Artivista (@artfullmarlene)!

Cultural Response is a three-month initiative that unites a cohort of artists, culture bearers, and community organizers. Their mission is to amplify the voices and practices of those currently envisioning a more compassionate democracy. By developing short-form digital content rooted in world-building and joy, the program tests the capacity of art to expand our collective sense of what is possible.

Be sure to visit our Instagram page and YouTube channel this month as we begin rolling out their incredible work and introducing you to some true local innovators!

Today we’re holding space for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples, and for the families and communities who continue to grieve, care, and demand justice. 🫂

The violence Indigenous communities face is not isolated, it is tied to ongoing systems of extraction, displacement, erasure, and neglect. Too often, Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit, trans, and queer people are made vulnerable by the same systems that fail to protect them. We honor the artists, organizers, families, and advocates who refuse silence. May we continue to listen, remember, and support the work toward safety, sovereignty, and justice.

Check the link in our bio for ways to support Indigenous Peoples in the pursuit of justice and reconciliation. 💌✊🏽

The Disruptors Fellowship is BACK, and we’re ready to launch our 2026 programming!

This fellowship aims to disrupt the status quo in Hollywood and to uplift and normalize narratives that have historically been underrepresented on television. This work is part of Cultural Power’s broader effort to advance values-based narratives that influence how people understand identity, power, and possibility.

Read full details of this year’s updated programming over at artistdisruptors.org, and apply there, or at the link in our bio!

If you have any questions about this year’s fellowship, please reach out to our Sr. Program Strategist, Julio: julio@culturalpower.org.

Happy International Workers’ Day 🌍✊🏽

We want to offer a reminder that a future rooted in dignity, safety, and collective care must be led by and built for working class people everywhere.

We’re strongest when we recognize that cultural movements and labor movements are deeply intertwined.
