DOUBLES - May 30th at General Store - An image-making workshop exploring collaboration as means to play, think and see differently, making chance essential.

We’ll start by reviewing the work we make within our collaborative practice, Take A Moment, the processes we utilize, and the why its value is important to our individual practices.

After that, pairs of two will set out to build images using paper mask screen printing and drawing that feel cohesive and complete. Participants are encouraged to stay loose in approach, give in to chance in the process, and make as many images (posters) as they can with the time given. We’ll be assisting to print students’ stencils, rack & dry prints, and advise on supplied drawing materials & techniques.

Sign up with a friend/collaborator, or sign up solo and get paired with a new friend! Make chance essential :)

Students will get to leave with all their work from the studio, 18 x 24” posters. How it’s divided between collaborators is up to you!

No experience necessary. Materials provided.

Now Showing 🎥 (Poster for) The Threshing.. Coming soon @sxswsydney

🌾 The Threshing is a horror film that follows a young couple as they enter the world of regenerative farming. When they first arrive they revel in the bucolic bliss of their new mountainside home, but soon fall into the farm’s more sinister practices, descending from ritualistic animal slaughter to self-mutilation and cannibalism.
We take a close look at the complicated, and sometimes horrifying, nature of “doing good.”🌾

Many thanks to director Sean Mannion @man_nion for the opportunity to design forfilm! This was a trip..

🟠Looking back…to 2021. A poster I often think of and 🤔 haven’t actually posted, for a 3-day celebration dubbed Maceration at LoLo (a wine bar/bottle shop in Austin, TX). This was a (orange) wine-aligned neighbor to the famous Levitation psych music fest in ATX. Texas is hot n weird, macerating bunches of grapes for wine can be all kindsa fluorescent..Sign me up.

Beyond a poster I really had fun with, I reference it whenever someone/students just getting into design (or insert any self sufficiency really) asks “How do you get work? ..And keep getting work?” The answer is usually door-open relationships, being reliable, and *incessantly* showing up to the studio… In 2013(?) I did a poster for the band Bear In Heaven of NYC. They loved it, signed one for me, and moved on. Little did I know years later after they had disbanded, one of the guys, Adam opened LoLo, and called me up. I was still there, and I’m still here. Psyched to be doing this. 🤳 Pick up the phone!

Silkscreen edition of 50, 3-color, 18x24” on Neenah Stipple 100lb. C (this one has a great baseball-leatherish texture).
SOLD OUT long ago 🙃

Very excited to present the poster for the exhibition The Moon, The Garden and Me; Julia’s new body of work for the Rookwood Artist Series. Today’s the day everyone gets introduced to these gorgeous pieces, which I’ve had the absolute pleasure of watching grow over the last few months. I couldn’t be more psyched and proud of this new chapter and expression of the innermost Julia!

✍️ One of my favorite things about this arena of design is working with artists & being gifted the trust to compose the foundation for their new work, to sum up a body of work. It’s a rare arrangement and one I don’t take lightly. I 100% go somewhere they didn’t expect (like grabbing a few choice Julia drawings out of THE TRASH like ‘scuse that’s fantastic that can’t be there). I get the self-conscious anxiety that comes w giving someone a stack of drawings they don’t know what will happen to. But I absolutely love being that eye that looks beyond the creation point and know the rest of the world will be psyched on THAT ONE, used in THAT WAY.It’s usually so instinctual that I can’t even describe, but you know it when you see it. And once it’s all in place, if you’re listening, despite the egos desire to push/pull/perfect..you just don’t touch it. That feeling is so evident in these ceramics that feel so true and soulful; full of it and containing many other souls’ (earthly and spiritually) loving effect on it all at once. Cheers, Love!

BooM..Poster for tonite’s show at Woodward Theater with of Montreal, and support by Bijoux Cone. After finishing this I says to the promoter, “OK this is a weird one, but they’re weird too!” ..and they felt that :) If you’re a fan, you may recognize some lyrics manifesting themselves in the main image..ones I couldn’t unglue from my brain as I went down memory lane of listening to The Sunlandic Twins in its time of release. So that was that ..though then ask me how many faces I drew for this. The colors are singin’ (IG really killing the saturation) the trapping is real crunchy tasty and the black ink finish is my kinda chefs kiss. Couldn’t be happier with the edition! See to believe!

💣⏰🧨
Silkscreen edition of 70 / 18x24” / 5-color/4 screens / French Pop-tone Whip Cream 100lb

Poster for tonite’s show at Woodward Theater with the mighty Budos Band 👹 I hadn’t mined the archives of ancient relics in a while and if you know their music and vibe, you’d probably make sense of the connection. Brought together a few Eye Idols from late in the 3rd millennium BC to form a bad, back when writing and recording history was starting to really be a whole thing.
Pretty sure there weren’t horns yet 🎺 but Budos sure has em. Oh, and the coin..the Roman’s definitely messed around with writing stuff down. This token of VII nods at their new album of the same name, which you should listen to loudly.

Silkscreen edition of 75 / 4-color/3 screens / 18x24” on C1S 148lb. white stock (for that super flat color pop, no curls here). Just a few windy wavy variants made (Slides 7-9).

A poster, posted late 💤 Recent work for a 2-nighter in Cincinnati with Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit. And a reverse look at how the image arrived. Went something like: saw a Hockney retrospective in May; couldn’t un-glue those giant and oddly cropped landscapes from my interior; tossed about depicting our lovely Ohio River Valley with this perspective; didn’t (marinated on it) for some time; the world kept showing me in pages I’d randomly flip to, friend’s pictures, color palettes; it begins to feel approachable; sketch falls out of brain in a 10 min disassociation on par with throwing up after a marathon. The rest is inking and juujing.. the celebration for running the race. Printing it in 24 hrs is it’s own’nother thing 🏁

Silkscreen edition of 175; 3-color; 18x24” on French Pop-Tone Whip Cream 100lb C

*Sold out @ shows & online; few available in-person at fairs/markets & studio visits*
