📌✨ You Are Here isn’t just a landmark — it’s an invitation to pause.
Standing 23 feet tall along historic Route 66 in Wellston, Oklahoma, this illuminated sculpture marks the geographic midpoint of Oklahoma’s stretch of the Mother Road while celebrating the stories, movement, and memories tied to the iconic highway. 🚗🛣️
Built from steel, glowing polycarbonate panels, and layered with scenes inspired by Route 66 culture, the piece transforms throughout the day and comes alive at night as a glowing beacon for travelers near and far. From roadside attractions to classic cars, every detail encourages visitors to stop, explore, and connect with the journey happening all around them.❤️
From raw steel to public wonder ✨
Here at Creative Machines, so many of our projects begin right here in-house — shaped, welded, polished, wired, and brought to life by our incredibly talented fabrication and lighting teams. From stainless steel structures to custom lighting details, every piece is built with care, creativity, and craftsmanship. 🔩💡
Public art like this matters because it transforms everyday spaces into moments of connection and curiosity. Whether someone stops to admire it up close or catches it while passing by, art has the power to inspire, spark conversation, and make a place feel unforgettable.
Huge shoutout to our amazing fabricators and light team for turning big ideas into experiences people can enjoy for years to come 🙌✨

Public Art Spotlight: Dodger the Coyote by Creative Machines.
The 20-foot Coyote statue was recently installed at the southeast corner of Grant Road and Dodge Boulevard. This public art piece is part of the Grant Road Phase 3-4 Improvements led by the City of Tucson (@cityoftucson).
The bold sculpture created by local artist Joe O’Connell (@josephoconnellart) of Creative Machines doubles as public art and place‑making for a flood‑control basin built to capture storm runoff during Tucson’s monsoon season.
Back in 2024, O’Connell worked with the Public Art Panel, led by the Arts Foundation, to envision the convergence of the desert landscape and the surrounding city with public art.
The enhanced landscaping, along with the accompanying public art, will improve both pedestrian and bicyclist use of Grant Road.

Where art, community, and curiosity come together ✨🌞
Stars and Stripes in Port St. Lucie, Florida is more than a public art installation — it’s a space designed for reflection, connection, and discovery. From glowing sculptural elements to immersive landscapes, every part of the park invites visitors to slow down, explore, and experience something meaningful together.
One of the highlights is the incredible interactive sundial at the heart of the Celestial Plaza 🌎☀️ Its towering sculptural design transforms throughout the day as light and shadows shift, creating a beautiful experience that changes with time itself.
A truly inspiring destination where art, storytelling, and community meet. 💫

You Are Here is a 23-foot-tall sculptural landmark located along historic Route 66 in Wellston, marking the geographic midpoint of Oklahoma’s nearly 400-mile stretch of the highway. Route 66 has long represented movement, migration, and the promise of possibility. This work focuses instead on the importance of stopping. It invites visitors to consider a place that might otherwise be passed by, reframing Wellston as a destination with its own identity within a broader cultural landscape.
You Are Here begins with a simple idea: location is not just where you are, but how you understand your place within a larger journey. The work transforms a familiar symbol into a physical experience, inviting visitors to pause, orient themselves, and recognize the significance of the present moment. From a distance, the sculpture reads as a bold, instantly recognizable form. Up close, it reveals a layered and detailed surface, encouraging exploration and discovery. It operates at multiple scales, functioning as both a landmark and an intimate encounter with place.
Made from carbon steel pipe and square tubing, the structure incorporates translucent polycarbonate panels embedded with glowing vignettes depicting scenes from Route 66. These include roadside attractions, landscapes, performers, and historic automobiles, capturing the spirit of the “Mother Road” as both a pathway and a shared cultural experience. A map on the underside situates visitors along the route, reinforcing the sculpture’s role as both marker and storyteller. The panels shift throughout the day as they interact with sunlight, creating depth and variation. At night, internal illumination transforms the sculpture into a beacon, extending its presence across the site and making it visible from afar. The bright red outline reinforces its clarity and iconic form within the landscape.
