My set for Día de Andalucía is now online 🟩⬜️🟩 (link in bio)
Some time ago, @fonte___ invited me to contribute to his special program on @relativaradio for the occasion, and I put this mix together with a lot of excitement—and with many memories of loved ones from that land. Even though I was born in Murcia, half of my family comes from the mountainous area of Almería. The bond with that region runs deep: I visit every year and always return for its food, beaches, and the incredible warmth of its people.
For this set I leaned into my habit of never sitting still when it comes to music, trying to "sketch an emotional map of the South without asking permission from genre labels. From María Jiménez to Manolo Escobar, passing through Chiquetete, Saray or Zíngaro, copla and popular song cross paths with rumba, flamenco-pop and Andalusian post-punk. Along the way you’ll hear flashes of elegant chiringuito AOR, the synths of futuristic rumba, unexpected electronic impulses (did you know Gabi Delgado from the legendary DAF was a migrant from Córdoba?), and Arabic glimmers that widen the horizon. Tradition, melodrama, irony and heat coexist in a session where Andalusian wit slips between neon lights, drum machines and salty sea breeze."
Heartfelt thanks to @fonte___ for thinking of me for his show, and to @relativaradio for selecting this mix for their monthly editorial Picks.
In the photos:
- Playa de los Cocedores, where the border between Almería and Murcia lies
- My favorite swimming pool in Roquetas de Mar
- Concha fina, the pre-@canelaparty appetizer
- Corner of Parque María Luisa in Sevilla
- A special memory of my grandfather 🍉

Already packing up for the next @la_nave_del_olvido_berlin’s party on May 30th (send a DM for location) and couldn’t resist adding this synthy disco gem straight from Mexico, with its perfectly cheesy touch.

Jubal - Tamborito (1978) 🇵🇦🎄
