Ophelia Dos Santos x Nakoi

A dialogue between heritage and identity - where dress becomes language.

This look draws from Ga traditions of Ghana and traditional Welsh dress, reimagined through our shared lens. Layered fabrics, structured forms, and adornment tell stories of womanhood, belonging, and passage. The apron, shawl, and hat - once markers of labour and ceremony, are transformed into symbols of celebration and reflection.

Patterns and silhouettes speak of two lands, two lineages, bound by rhythm, memory, and the act of making. Each fold, pleat, and stitch becomes a verse, a conversation between ancestors and the present.

With gratitude to The Or Foundation @theorispresent for supporting our journey, and special thanks to Maame Konadu Mintah @mhame_konadu_ for sharing her wisdom on African textiles. Your research into the cultural and ecological importance of cloth has deeply inspired us, guiding how we honour material, tradition, and the stories they hold.
