In this conversation, I’m in conversation with Coco Allred, a visual artist and educator whose work explores the intersections of public space, aesthetics, and experimental pedagogy. Driving my work is a belief that to address urgent environmental and social concerns, we need experiences for community engagement that help us rethink our relationship with the earth, centering reciprocity, collectivity, and love. Weaving is a medium I gravitate to in pursuit of these ideas.

One of my favorite sections from Recursive Gardens

The children playing come from a 1950s bandaid commercial and remind me of Muybridge photographs. Ava’s music slows down these scenes with the paper and brings a sense of wonder
