Devastated to hear about Terry's passing today. Another incredible Rock'n'Roll voice gone... one of my favourites. I remember writing about his life on our blog last year and featuring his Camden gig in our monthly CMDN gig picks. I was gutted to miss it back then, but I was thrilled to see he'd be back in Camden this October and was really looking forward to seeing him live in just two months at the Jazz Cafe 🥹

He was an incredible singer/ guitarist/ songwriter and unfortunately, didn't get the recognition he should've -despite being one of the best musicians in the 60s - confirmed by Aretha Franklin naming him alongside the stones and Beatles as one of the best talents emerging from England!

Reid famously declined an offer from Jimmy Page to front the band that would become Led Zeppelin, he did recommend both Bonham and Plant as he knew them from the group Band of Joy. Thanks Terry! He also turned down an invitation by Ritchie Blackmore to join Deep Purple as a frontman! By the late ’60s, Reid was making waves as a solo act, supporting legendary tours by the Rolling Stones, Cream, Jethro Tull, and Fleetwood Mac.

It was in March 1970 that four lads from Aston walked into The Roundhouse and performed under a new name for the first time: Black Sabbath. That night wasn’t just a gig. It was the birth of heavy metal. And it happened here, in Camden!

From Camden to the world, Ozzy and Sabbath reshaped music. They were the first to do it like this. Their sound wasn’t just heavy - it was revolutionary!! Dark, raw, and real. The soundtrack to the outsider, the misfit, the rebel 🦇

Ozzy’s voice became the battle cry of generations. And right here in Camden, we were lucky enough to witness the beginning!

We are devastated. But we’re also endlessly grateful.
You gave the world so much, and your legacy will never fade. Rest in power, Ozzy Osbourne.
