“In its time, Glow was a trailblazer of integrated design in new dance and performance, signalling the artistic innovation and ambition that would become a hallmark of the company’s vision. Glow’s return is testament to its enduring qualities and it’s a great privilege to platform the work 20 years on for a new generation of audiences.”
- Chunky Move Artistic Director, Antony Hamilton

In this intense 27-minute solo, a lone dancer’s movement is tracked in real time by luminous beams of light. The result is a mesmerising duet between human and machine — a digital landscape that responds to and extends the body’s gestures, exploring themes of cyborg life, transformation, and the fragility of the human form.

Glow is part of the inaugural Australian Dance Biennale, curated and hosted by @rising.melbourne
Don’t miss this limited season – a rare opportunity to witness an iconic piece of Australian contemporary dance history.

Chunky Move today announces that Executive Director and Co-CEO Kristy Ayre will conclude her role with the company on 19 March, following her acceptance of a new position as Engagement, Strategy and Business Lead at the City of Melbourne.

Ayre has led Chunky Move for seven years alongside Artistic Director and Co-CEO Antony Hamilton, guiding the company through a period of significant artistic growth, organisational strengthening, and an increased national and international profile.

“It has been an incredible privilege to help steward Chunky Move through a period of ambition and transformation,” Ayre said. “Together with Antony, the Board and our wider community of artists, staff, collaborators, donors and partners, we have built strong creative, financial and strategic foundations that position the company well for its next chapter.”

During her tenure, Ayre oversaw the delivery of major new works, expanded international touring and partnerships, and strengthened the company’s financial resilience. In close collaboration with key First Nations personnel, she was instrumental in embedding First Peoples engagement and programming as integral to the organisation’s commitment and day-to-day practice. She also led the development of multi-year strategic, equity and development frameworks to support the company’s long-term sustainability.

Chunky Move thanks Kristy Ayre for her outstanding leadership and contribution and wishes her every success in her new role.

An unmissable project that melds contemporary dance, fashion, technology, and music is joining the Rewire 2026 line-up: contemporary dance company @chunkymove bring 'U>N>I>T>E>D' to the festival.

'U>N>I>T>E>D' is a cybernetic performance of apocalyptic scavengers in a speculative world where machine mystics tread the post-industrial wreckage. With a soundtrack by Balinese DIY electronic duo @gabbermodusoperandi, costume design by streetwear label @future_loundry, and animatronic robotics by @creaturetechnology, this one-of-a-kind performance brings together cutting-edge practitioners in a multidisciplinary display of kinetic majesty. As maximal hardcore beats and bursting arpeggiated riffs resound in the space, the performers dis- and reassemble their machinic limbs, linking their bodies together as hacker convergences of meat and metal.
