A construction process led by intuition and the proportions of the pasta.
Stool/ side table is patinated bronze
Chair is plain brass, which will oxidize and develop a darker colour over time

Dalù lamp, by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, alphabet pasta version in silver-plated brass.
Made for AGAINST NATURE, the debut showcase from Bureau of Innovation @bureau.of.innovation , staged last month on the occasion of PAD / Frieze London.
For this exhibition, I applied my pasta casting technique to reinterpret some iconic vintage lamp designs, introducing a new material grammar to the innovative and nostalgic forms of mid-century Italian lighting.

Called Genio (Italian for genius) because of certain design details I think are clever, and for the person who commissioned it, named Eugenio.
This idea had been in my head for a while, thank you to @eugeniomassetti for trusting me to bring it to life, and to @marcello.calvi and Luciano Calvi for the fabrication support.

The tubes are laser cut to remove sections of material, allowing them to bend to a precise radius. They’re curved along their edges rather than their faces, so each part connects at a 45° angle. This provides an angled ledge that supports the glass along its beveled edge, allowing it to sit flush within the frame, creating the effect of looking through a window.
The glass was the most challenging part. Many manufacturers said rounded corners with a beveled edge couldn’t be done, until we found one who could, who also happens to produce windows for Ferrari.
