A month ago was the best night ever. Charlie (@teamvella) and I had the VIP experience with PRIMUS at SPAC - getting an opportunity to meet the band at a Q&A + front n center seats for the concert. We had shirts made with our respective favorite songs on them - mine said ‘Nature Boy’ and Charlie’s said ‘Golden Boy’. Before I could even finish asking my question at the Q&A, Les Claypool points at the shirts and goes “Hey- nature boy and golden boy! I like that!” We were already having the best time just hanging around Les, Larry, and Tim listening to their stories and getting some solid back n forth with our questions. Flash forward through an amazing performance from @puddlespityparty and face melting set from @coheed, Primus was taking the stage. We could not wrap our heads around how physically close we were about to be our all time favorite band playing a full set. They opened with an epic cover of Holy Diver with Puddles singing and then… the first proper Primus song they played was Nature Boy! We freaked out! We were like “could it be the shirts?!” Well, you could imagine our excitement when Nature Boy was followed immediately by Golden Boy! That’s when we truly lost it. It was clear now that it was more than just a coincidence - Primus graciously gifted us a mind blowing performance of our favorite songs at the start of the show, only to continue to absolutely rip through an incredible setlist of heavy hitters. I still can’t believe they played Professor Nutbutter into Hamburger Train 🤯. We were dancing our asses off the whole time. The boys were shredding 6 feet in front of us. When the show finally came to end, Ler looks me in the eyes and tosses me his guitar pick. As we were leaving, Chaney Claypool approached us (calling us ‘Nature Boy’ and ‘Golden Boy,’) complimented us, and handed us each our own setlist from the show. We were in disbelief at how amazing the show was and the fan service provided to us by Primus and their team. All we could do was put our arms around eachother and laugh maniacally as we walked away.
