Arabo’ is an effort to model reality in a blend of location-specific
field recordings, synthesized atmospheres, classical instruments, and
spoken word poetry. More specifically, it is the coping process of the
individual who gets so close to having nothing that he realizes he
already has everything around him, in the all-encompassing soundscape
of the everydays. It is also an 18-paragraph “audio essay”, originally
intended to be listened to from start to finish. The word ‘arabo’ also
translates to ‘tame, gentle’ from ancient Celtic, and is also the name
of Rába, a river which flows through the city of Győr, where all of
the sounds have been recorded in the first half of 2024.

Chaac has existed in a superposition of classic and experimental
ambient music since early 2020. Starting from the world of modular
synthesizers and sound synthesis, the practice of improvisation marks
(if not guides) his creative process. Through the last 4 years of his
activity, he has been selected as a special mention on the 2022
@electronicbeats_hu’s SZELEKTOR competition, played several live sets in Budapest (@kozpontbudapest
@susukafe , @a38ship) and Szeged, and has been a resident artist at @grasahufestival
festival since 2021. His focus on multidisciplinary projects include
visual artists and also theater professionals (so far).

A short story about the eternal, yet so unrecognized dance of internal and external change; all in the name of personal growth. Often we see realia around us as less of significance, phenomena to rule over, to practice our power on.
However, the soul is able to subordinate itself to guidance given by the aforementioned, thus getting closer to its rightful place in our world; among and not above others. This time an old, detuned piano taught me about Ashtanga (The eight-fold path of Yoga), each “limb” represents an imperfect attempt of the mind to rewire itself not to rule, but to listen and keep up with the quiet signs of a friend met along the way.

“Claustromania is the consequence of our shrinking urban spaces, the thinning of our inter- and intrapersonal layers, and depletion of emotional resources.
We feel trapped inside by instinct, and although we’re eventually forced to break out, the sudden expansion of possibilities quickly becomes unbearable, thus we come back, seeking shelter in the narrowness, to be ‘enclosed’.
Our controversial obsession with this struggle is what makes us going, and its duality makes it lifelike.”

Our collaboration finally takes form between physical and audible planes. The exhibition will open in @agarur_szeged on Friday, where I will perform the 20-minute long piece I’ve written to complement Zoltán’s beautiful visual textures.
It’s a pleasure, and I am deeply humbled by the opportunity.
I’ve always been extremely fascinated by the notion of interdisciplinarity in art, and I will continue to search for other occasions where I can connect to it.
