Whether you do sketch, improv, or stand up, having a number of accurate dialects easily available increases your versatility as a performer.

We’ll work on several accents together (General American for more accessibility to the entire North American audience, Received Pronunciation — for posh British characters, and the American South, giving a wide range of character types to work with).

You’ll also bring in a dialect or accent of your choosing that we can workshop.You’ll get the main points of each dialect so you can pick them up quickly and efficiently for scenes and sets.

Across 7 in-studio classes and 6 optional performances, students will focus exclusively on the classic Harold—learning how to build strong openings, generate recurring themes, weave callbacks, and escalate group games with confidence and clarity. You’ll strengthen your ability to create layered characters, heighten patterns, and collaborate as a cohesive ensemble within this time-tested framework.

By the end of the course, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the mechanics and magic of The Harold—and the tools to perform it with precision and play.

This 7 week course delves deep into expert level hosting and playing short form improv. With 7 in-studio classes and 7 optional performances, students will gain an advanced understanding of how to host, call and play over 20 of the most common improv games as well as receive intro scripts, suggestion lists and resources they’ll use for years to come!

All graduates of Pro Short Form will be invited to perform in an extended run of Comedy Bar’s GAME NIGHT! Ticket sales from Comedy Bar’s GAME NIGHT will be a 50/50 split with performers.

The Lost Art of Playing an Object & Background Work

Have you ever played a tree, someone’s hat or a cat’s tail? If the answer is no, then why not? That’s because the fantastic art of playing an object has faded from people’s game.

In this workshop we’ll work on techniques to help people play both inanimate and animate objects, from clocks to birds to portraits on the wall to trees, etc. The only limit is your imagination.

Do these objects talk? It depends on the scene and we’ll learn how to judge if an object should talk or not.
We’ll also work on entering a scene as either someone/thing in the background and entering the scene as an additional character to help heighten the scene and keep it moving forward.
