It’s Bandcamp Friday, STRIP MALL is hitting the festival circuit, and I’m so thrilled to finally share the OST. — In case you’re not subscribed to my Bandcamp feed (I don’t blame you on a day like today)…

I’ve been loving the gritty surrealist films of the past decade+ (Sean Baker, Safdie Brothers, etc.), so imagine my delight when I was asked to write a score for a short film firmly in this genre, of mostly diegetic music, set in a strip mall. Writer/director @andrewappelle, writer/producer/editor Robert Hyland, the entire cast and crew (w special shout-out to scenic painter @kvmcqtattoos) are some of the nicest, coolest, most talented folks I’ve worked with, and I’ve never felt the bar set this high. I failed a lot on the way, but I’m so pleased with how the score turned out. 

“Cumberland Terrace” is one of those failures: though it isn’t in film, I liked it enough to include in the release. It’s the sadder sister (and first iteration of) “Working Together” and I’m dedicating it to one of my favourite places in Toronto, and to the kind custodian, David, who gave me a very nice office chair.

I find mallsoft incredibly challenging to write, so I’m super proud of these tunes. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but if it’s yours, I hope you find it as delicious as I do. Genuinely one of the best projects I’ve worked on, and some of my favourite tracks I’ve written so far.

Feels like it’s been so long since I’ve released something and today I’m thrilled to share the main theme from the game score I’ve been secretly working away at!

I can’t say much about it yet, but I’ve had a ton of fun working on this music: it’s been striking the perfect balance between *exactly in my wheelhouse* and way outside my comfort zone (my fave!). — It’s been so gratifying to help bring @insertdisc5’s vision to life and I hope y’all love this little teaser bossa.

Such a treat to see @friendsofthediamondeye’s masterpiece today. If you’re in Toronto & missed the Canadian premiere of @agathasalmanac hit up @hotdocs_ on May 2nd! Cozy, awe-inspiring, and I cried just a little. So lucky to have Amalie’s visionary influence on my life and have so many of my tunes included in her first feature length film. 🍉 🍓 🌱 🍉 🍓
