Featured in issue 22:
Renowned artist MARK DION ( @markdionstudio ) has a passion for collecting. He collects all sorts of relics from the past — not only memorabilia, historical artifacts and collectables, but books, toys, tools, bric-a-brac, antique detritus, and organic curiosities from the natural environment. These disused or discarded items are taken for granted by most people but, for Dion, they harbor important information about distant times and places and sometimes help us more fully understand the present.
‘Mark Dion: Eccentric Collectors Like Us,’ on view Oct. 9, ’26 through Feb. 22, ’27 at The Concord Museum (@concordmuseum ), Concord, MA.

LAURA BACON’s @lauraellenbacon latest creation, entitled ‘Gathering My Thoughts,’ featured in issue 21, is part of ‘Ground/Work 2025,’ an exhibition of six commissioned outdoor sculptures at @clarkart in Williamstown, MA. It is the successor to a similar project hosted by the museum in 2020–21, this time with a focus on craft. For this edition, @glenn_adamson selected artists from Britain, Japan, Mali, Mexico, Switzerland, and the USA. Collectively, they demonstrate that the most sturdily traditional of artistic premises can be reimagined in new and surprising ways. On view through October, 12th, ’26. Issue 21, features a diary kept by BACON during the creation of this sculpture. Link in bio. 📷 @carltond

🌱Featured in issue 21: Each spring arrives like a miracle as winter’s monochromatic landscape slowly transforms into a riot of colors as trees bloom and early perennials erupt from the ground. Yet for a trained eye like floral artist ARIEL DEARIE @arieldeariestudio , inspiration can be found in any season. “I look at particular blooms or the lines of a curving branch or a vine for inspiration. It’s already so beautiful, I just want to enhance the forms I find in nature.”

Featured in issue 21: A mighty wave of willow rises in the woods. It accumulates gradually, as natural things do, strand by strand, twist by twist. Yet this extraordinary apparition is very much the work of human hands: to be specific, the skilled, strong hands of LAURA ELLEN BACON ( @lauraellenbacon ). Her latest creation, entitled ‘Gathering My Thoughts,’ is part of ‘Ground/Work 2025,’ an exhibition of six commissioned outdoor sculptures at @clarkart on view through Oct. ’26.
In a daily journal, kept by the artist at the request of @upstate_diary , we follow her own journey as she brought her sculpture to life.

With this selection of photographs, Carlton Davis features seemingly mundane grocery items such as fruit, botanicals, eggs, and chickens. With a focus on composition and mood, Davis elevates these humble subjects and encourages contemplation of the photographs individually, and in conversation with one another. Through these images, Davis inconspicuously explores concepts of power, diversity, beauty, and equanimity.
