These amazing creatures have been around longer than dinosaurs! Horseshoe crabs are prehistoric arthropods. They are a vital keystone species because their presence is vital to maintaining the balance and survival of coastal and estuarine ecosystems.

It was an honor to spend time with some horseshoe crabs on the coast of Jamaica Bay, a wildlife refuge in NYC managed by the National Park Service.

It’s so important that we preserve their ecosystems and utilize alternative research methods that don’t use their blood.

Horseshoe crabs are truly a site to behold if you have the opportunity to see them on the shores.

a black sesame matcha latte + mystery vinyl = manic pixie dreamgirl heaven!

@kokenyc is a cafe that understands food and drink as care, as relationship, as something you make with living culture and actual intention, and when you walk in you feel that.

i think a lot about why being plant-based matters to me and it keeps coming back to the same thing: what we eat is a relationship with the planet, with the people who grew it, with our own bodies, and i want that relationship to be conscious. im so glad i found koké!

its also one of those "god i love new york" moments when when the yummiest thing for your ears and your tummy share the same space, in a cute sun-dappled spot in manhattan on a sunny spring day.

on top of that @groovevolt has a new print issue and instead of a launch party they partnered with a fermented, plant-based café and gave away mystery vinyl with every black sesame latte or groovevolt special, and through this partnership Abid and Erica built something that marries living-sound culture and the most delicious thing you've tasted this year together.

i got "im ready" by fats domino as my vinyl btw :)
