As always Alysha Seriani assisted in all things filmic and turkey and GIF.
HUSBANDRY stars our very own Regie Concordia (RIP) as Biscuit and @wyngaardencornelia as the voice of "turkey."
HUSBANDRY, a work of experimental docufiction speculates in the archives of Mary Imrie (1918 - 1988) and Jean Wallbridge (1912 - 1979), who operated the first architecture firm run by women in Canada at Six Acres, the home they built for their work and life together overlooking the North Saskatchewan River. Significant figures in the history of Canadian modernism, Imrie and Wallbridge’s archives offer abundant documentation of the single-family homes and low-rise apartment buildings they designed but have little to say about the queer lives they built outside of work.
They also kept a brood of 300 turkeys at their home.

My most favourite creature, Regie Concordia, is no longer with us, having wandered over that disco-rainbow on March 14th.
So much devastation in the world, it's hard not to have her tucked into the bib of my overalls, trying to move through it all together.
She requested a slice of prosciutto for her last snack, classy b*tch, 4 ever.

Stills from GLAD YOU CLOSER HOME / NEW WHITE WHISKERMARY
@caitomck and my newest project curated by @carolyn_jervis
Opening Thursday September 19th at the @mitchellartgallery
🦃
Mary Imrie (1918 - 1988) and Jean Wallbridge (1912 - 1979) operated their architecture firm—the first run by women in Canada—at Six Acres, the home they built for their work and life together overlooking the North Saskatchewan River in west Edmonton. When Mary Imrie passed away, she bequeathed the records of their remarkable architectural practice and adventurous life, along with their home, to the province of Alberta. With a title borrowed from a telegram in the collection, GLAD YOU CLOSER HOME / NEW WHITE WHISKER MARY is Cait McKinney and Hazel Meyer’s immersive exhibition that playfully imagines and speculates in the spaces between the correspondence, amateur super-8 recordings, and modernist buildings that Imrie and Wallbridge left behind.
🦃
Video produced with Alysha Seriani, starring @wyngaardencornelia as "Turkey," and Regie Concordia as "Biscuit."

Today is the official publication date for my new book I Know You Are, but What Am I? On Pee-Wee Herman, out with @uminnpress. You can pick up a copy or read the ebook for free on the press website. Get 40% with code MN91270.
This is a book I’ve always wanted to write because I think Pee-wee Herman still matters deeply to queer folks, as an icon, a site of identification, a source of wild play and joy, and an architect of the playhouse of our collective dreaming.
It’s not all fun, games, and secret words (ahhhhhh!!!) though. In the book I read the playhouse as an otherwise space indelibly refracted through Paul Reubens’ queer and AIDS-phobic 1991 arrest in an adult movie theatre. There’s also a chapter on broken talking Pee-wee Dolls and the problem of repair. Pic 2 is my Pee-wee doll, chilling on my bookshelf at home. He’s broken and I like him that way.
