This week’s newsletter consists of vaguely coherent and mildly cohesive ruminations on family, working in an industry that never slows down for anything, how families change to make space for that work, and the implications of that change. How do we convince family that we are here for them in spite of years of evidence to the contrary? I will not answer those questions, which is annoying, but I will say words about the topic.I’ve recently witnessed a lot of different ways that people show up for family while working in restaurants, and I would love to hear about how other people navigate this complicated lifestyle.
