Senior Archival Producer Katy Jones Garrity and Archival Researcher Lucia Fox-Shapiro had to scour U.S. historical records of the once bountiful American Chestnuts on the East Coast, to the incredible early discoveries of in the La Brea tar pits during the oil drilling on the West Coast, and an incredible diversity of records in between. I hope you will watch @humanfootprintpbs Episode 5 of Human Footprint "Dammed if You Do". From the emergence of the first dam, to today's high tech water management, managing the hydrology of our planet has allowed us to grow while coming at some extraordinary costs. It's a fascinating history and a reminder that learning from the past can improve our lives into the future. As archival producers, for @katyjgarrity and Laura Rammelsberg this one was particularly challenging and interesting as the storytelling runs from ancient Roman ruins, to 13th century manuscripts in Turin, to high-flow USGS experiments in the 2000s. This was a true team effort and it's an important and fascinating program.
