Currently reading Art Cure by Daisy Fancourt and finding myself nodding along to so much of it.

As someone who works with children and young people every day through dance, it’s incredibly powerful to see research putting into words what so many of us witness in the studio week after week.

“The arts help young people build confidence, emotional resilience, identity and belonging.”

This is why the arts matter.
Not just for performances, exams or achievements… but for the child who finds confidence, the young person who feels safe to express themselves, the friendships formed, the resilience built and the feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself.

Dance and the arts are not an “extra.” They are part of helping young people grow into healthy, creative, connected humans and I feel incredibly grateful that this is the work we get to do every day at Buzz.

3 weeks ago our company dancers attended U.Dance regionals @dance_city_newcastle

We were incredibly excited to learn that Buzz Dance Company was shortlisted for the prestigious U.Dance National Festival 2026 🤩

Following the regional platform, our work was shortlisted for the national selection process, where youth dance experts from across the UK review choreography and performances from regional platforms nationwide.

The standard this year was said to be exceptionally high, so to have our dancers and choreography recognised at this stage was something we are extremely proud of. Opportunities like this celebrate creativity, artistry, performance quality and the incredible talent within youth dance across the UK.

At Buzz, we are passionate about creating meaningful dance experiences where young people can grow not only as dancers, but as creative artists, performers and confident individuals. Seeing our dancers perform and represent us with such commitment, creativity and heart was incredibly special ❤️

A huge well done to everyone involved, we are so proud of you all.

A huge well done to all of the dancers who took part in the selection day for Chance to Dance.

60 young people came together, all showing their love of dance, creativity, and wonderful enthusiasm. From this, a team of 30 dancers were selected to represent the North East as the Chance to Dance Next Generation Company.

We are absolutely thrilled to share that 8 Buzz dancers were selected!

These talented dancers will now work together to create a brand new ballet piece, which will be performed in the Next Generation Festival at the Royal Opera House this June.

What a full and inspiring weekend of dance at Buzz Dance Company ❤️

We began with a wonderful day of International Dance Teachers’ Association Awards, where dancers aged 3–18 stepped into the room and showed the results of their hard work, dedication and courage. We don’t know the official results yet, but we do know this… the examiner told us we had lovely work and that she loved the atmosphere in our studio. Every single dancer was cheered as they left the exam room, exactly how it should be.

Then on to U.Dance Regional Platform at Dance City, where our dancers were incredible. They performed a beautifully creative piece filled with strong technique, artistry and heart.

Today was a full day of Chance to Dance selections, and once again our dancers did us proud. They worked hard, showed their love of dance, and impressed with their creativity and commitment.

We are so proud of every Buzz dancer. This weekend was about so much more than results, it was about growth, bravery, teamwork and joy.

Abigail did such a great job of her solo at Chance to Dance. One of the youngest soloists and she performed with such maturity. Brilliant work Abigail 👏👏

It’s WOW 🤩 dancer Wednesday!

The first is our Chance to Dance class. This is them in rehearsal on Sunday. They not only performed beautifully but acted like true stars all day. Watching and supporting the other groups, helping each other and when we ended up a dancer down pulled together to help again! Well done super stars ⭐️
