⭐️ GIVEAWAY! ⭐️ We have four tickets to Karen Carrier's May 20th dinner at the Brooks Museum to give to two lucky readers. This three-part dinner series is presented in conjunction with Memphis College of Art, 1936–2020: An Enduring Legacy, on display now at the museum. For more than eight decades, MCA helped define the creative life of Memphis. These dinners offer a chance to celebrate that history through the lens of food, memory, and community.

Karen, the chef/owner of The Beauty Shop, attended MCA in the early 70s and double-majored in painting and enameling. "I only added enameling so I could be around Dorothy Sturm more," says Karen. Dorothy took Karen under her wing and had a profound effect on her. Karen even wrote a book about her, titled Cobalt: The Art of Dorothy Sturm.

Dorothy's favorite thing to eat was pate, and Karen laughs and says, "I'm not serving pate." Rather, the family-style dinner she planned will celebrate the season with fresh, colorful plates. Karen says she keeps a lot of "nut dust and herbs from around the world in her bag of tricks." Tuna agua chile and the sesame and spiced pecan chicken spring rolls pictured here are both on the menu.

For a chance to win: 1) Like this post, 2) Follow @brooksmuseum and @beautyshoprestaurant, 3) Tell us why this dinner speaks to you, 4) Tag potential dates for this event in the comments, and 5) Share to your story and feed. We will choose our winners on Friday, May 15, and announce it in this thread and in our story!

🎟️ Find all of the details at the link in bio!
🍽️ Legacy at the Table: MCA Dinners

A record-breaking night for the future of Memphis art! 🥂✨

Because of your incredible generosity, this year’s Barrel to Barrel raised nearly $700,000 for museum education programs! From art therapy to school tours, these funds ensure that thousands of students across the Mid-South have a front-row seat to creative exploration and new possibilities.

To our sponsors, host committee, and every guest who raised a glass (and a paddle)—thank you for being the “creative heartbeat” of our mission.

PS: We are just $1,000 away from a flat $700K. Want to put us over the top?

Tap the link in our bio to make a gift to the Paddle Raise for Education. 🎨
