• KINDRED SPIRITS BOAT PARTY
Sun May 31 (Public Holiday Eve)
w/ @bridget__small B2B @chopped_liv3r
+ @monteaubeurre B2B @_ryley___
Derbal Yerrigan [SOLD OUT]
Kindred Spirits is a casual dance affair soundtracked lovingly by buddies. Long weekend, long dance, long lasting friendships. For this edition, we set sail across the Derbal Yerrigan (Swan River) for a 4 hour cruise departing Barrack Street Jetty and arriving at East Street Jetty.
Helmed by Montana (Skylab Radio, Radio Temponara) & Nape, Kindred Spirits is pleased to welcome interstate guests Naarm/Melbourne’s Bridget Small & Nick Ure. Their shared approach is intuitive, drawing from shelves of well-loved records that drift between understated guitar music, chuggy electronics and off-centre dance floor moments. Their shared musical palette can be heard together as hosts on Good Morning Skylab, as well as Bridget’s residencies on PBS & NTS, and Nick’s record label Southern Exposure Records. Their sets feel like a shared conversation that is cohesive but for listeners as much as dancers.
Licensed Venue, No BYO, Strictly 18+ (Patrons Under 18 Not Permitted), Wheelchair Accessible, Standing
PS: This show is almost sold out!

Guest mix for Bridget Smalls’ NTS show at midday today, or 1AM if you’re UK time.
Lots of oz bits, including some 70s folk, obligatory upcoming @bluec_ommunications , slightly pitched down post-punk on Larrikin and my favourite ethereal somehow by Cut Copy song. Amongst the usual sappy guitar songs with drum machines from the UK and beyond. Thanks to bestie @bridget__small for having me on.

A dream come true seeing Severed Heads play in Eora last month!
I then wrote a piece about them for @thequietus and interviewed legend Tom Ellard. Such a humble, funny and clever man.
It was an amazing show put together by @prop.records (you must visit if you’re ever in Syd!) via @pass_port_storeandgallery 🤝
I love Sydney and Sydney bands!!!
Available for reading on the website now.

The Clifton Hill Community Music Centre has been a constant source of admiration for Synthesize Me since the shows inception.
A groundbreaking hub for artists which emerged in 1976 by founders Ron Nagorcka and Warren Burt. Based in an old organ factory in the inner-north, it became a space for experimentation in music, sound and other temporal art forms.
This Friday and Saturday, Liquid Architecture and the artist and coordinator of the centre David Chesworth have curated “We Called It New Music”, featuring performances reflecting on the past, present and future of the legacy of the space. One absolutely not to be missed with tickets still available!
On tonights show we have dug up a few never before heard interviews that we have collected over the years with the centres most important frequenters - Jane Joyce, John Crawford and Ros Bandt.
We are indebted to many figures from the scene at the time and other enthusiasts that have passionately archived and published the history of the CHCCMC.
If you are more interested in the Clifton Hill Community Music Centre we implore you to get lost in listeningtothearchive.com
Many of these images here were swiped from the unbelievable catalogue.
Tune in tonight to hear a 2 hour dedication (only scratching the very surface) to some of the happenings that occurred in the organ factory between 1976 and 1983.
