Our Founders Bob and Charlee Moore, built Bob’s Red Mill with a simple mission: to bring wholesome food to the world, while creating lasting security for the employees who helped make it possible.
In 2010, after decades of growth, Bob took that vision one step further by creating an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), making everyone an employee owner.
“Setting up an ESOP was just the right thing to do. I have people that have worked with me for over 30 years, and each and every one of them deserves this.” — Bob Moore
Today, Bob’s Red Mill is proudly 100% employee owned—a legacy rooted in care, craftsmanship and doing right by people.

Bob Moore dreamed of opening a mill from the day he discovered John Goffe’s Mill—a book telling the story of a man who, with no prior experience, restored his family’s ancestral mill and ground wheat into flour. Inspired, Bob immersed himself in the art of stone milling and, alongside his wife and sons, opened his first mill in Redding, California in 1974.
A few years later, Bob and Charlee retired to Milwaukie, Oregon—but retirement didn’t last long. One day, while out for a walk, they stumbled upon an old feed mill and learned it was for sale. They took a leap of faith and, in 1978, launched what would become Bob’s Red Mill.
Nearly five decades later, the Mill remains a lasting symbol of the quality and community that inspired Bob from the very beginning.

Our founders Bob and Charlee Moore first opened our doors in 1978 with a mission of bringing people together with homemade food. Starting with a handful of simple ingredients like stone ground flour and whole grain oats, they connected with a community hungry for quality food made with integrity—and quickly grew into a trusted food brand.
Milestones of the Mill:
👶1978: Bob’s Red Mill, originally named Moore’s Flour Mill, opens on Roethe Road in Milwaukie, Oregon
🛒1982: A major Northwest grocery retailer adds dozens of Bob’s products, creating a surge in demand
🔥1988: The original Mill burns to the ground in a suspected arson—only the millstones survived
🎉1989: Milling starts at a new, larger facility in Milwaukie in less than a year
🌎2008: Worldwide demand for Bob’s products sparks a move to our current Mill, expanding our footprint and capabilities
🤝2010: On his 81st birthday, Bob announces he is creating an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), making everyone an employee owner

Baking something whimsical and delicious doesn’t have to be complicated. A rich, fudgy homemade brownie with pastel candy flowers turns a classic recipe into a playful, picture-perfect treat. Sweet simple and made to share 🌷Recipe below!
Ingredients:
* 1 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 3/4 cup unsalted butter
* 2 Tablespoons oil
* 1 and 1/3 cups granulated sugar
* 2 large eggs
Instructions:
* Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease baking pan.
* In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa powder. Set aside until needed.
* In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, oil, and 1/3 cup of the sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until butter is completely melted. Remove from heat.
* In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, and remaining sugar. Whisk until well combined, about 30 seconds.
* Slowly, pour the warm butter mixture into the egg mixture, adding it very gradually and whisking constantly until completely combined.
* Add in the dry ingredients using a rubber spatula, slowly stir until just combined.
* Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
* Bake for 30-40 minutes depending on size/type of pan! or until the edges are firm and the top is shiny and slightly cracked.
* Let brownies cool and then add chocolate fudge frosting on top! I used a premade frosting.
* Last step is to add some cute candy to make it look like spring flowers on top!
