Can we instantly recognize an object by its distinctive features, even when it has been transformed?
In collaboration with @studiobayard, we explored this question through the solarization technique applied to the Eduard vase by @studiopepe_official. Our research delves into how visual perception shapes our ability to identify objects, even when their aesthetics are altered. It examines how an object’s defining features, despite transformation, can preserve its identity and symbolic value.
This process led us to reflect on how recognizability isn’t just tied to an object’s original form but also to the strength of its iconic elements. Finally, these reflections are intended to understand and stimulate a dialogue about the value we assign to certain objects and how this influences the value we attribute to what we introduce into the market circuit, particularly in relation to the frequency and speed with which our consumer-driven society urges us to consume.
@studiobayard (Rome) is a space dedicated to photography and analog printing, featuring a darkroom lab focused on research and experimentation with various printing techniques and materials.

Bespoke Ondamarmo side table in smoked onyx • Crafted on request • Design by @federicaelmo, Photography by @alessiokeilty Set Design: @mattia.scenografia #blocstudios #ondamarmo #marbledesi̇gn

Inspired by the interplay of fullness and emptiness, the Affinità Elettive collection (@studiopepe_official , 2019) explores how individual forms can complete and enhance one another — a subtle metaphor for the strength found in connection.
In times of uncertainty, when many begin to question the value of their own work, sometimes the simplest answers emerge. Studiopepe’s design offers a quiet reflection on the power of building a harmonious community — where each element supports and reinforces the other. A gentle statement for peaceful living.
Designed with a modular purpose in mind, each piece stands beautifully on its own, yet resonates even more when paired with others. The collection is available on our e-shop and through selected retailers worldwide.
The result of a thoughtful design process rooted in balance, individuality, and, above all, unity.
