Scratch, Ache, Bleed is finally coming to streaming platforms on 31st May!!🐞

This song is particularly personal for me (Lolly). I always tell the story of this song before going into it on stage, so it’s only right I do it here. I wrote this song about the bullying I faced for being me. For being called weird, too much, people being cruel to me and taking the piss thinking I didn’t see it. I never knew why I was ‘weird’ but when I was younger, I used to go into every school year trying to take away parts of myself to avoid bullying, camouflaging myself from cruelty- this never worked though. I found out at 22 I was autistic and that’s why I functioned a little differently and it saved my life. But, even if you’re not autistic I think alternative people can relate to the sentiment of liking things that are not mainstream and being told their interests are cringe, unworthy, weird and made to feel like they need to stop. I’m here to tell you fuck that and fuck them. You are worthy of love, joy, respect and the means to express yourself without prejudice (UNLESS you’re a nonce! Always say this at shows and want to put it here LMAOOOO). When I say we see you in bldsugr! It’s because I do see you. Every single one of you. So many have came up to me telling me their own stories because of this song, I’ve held hands and had the privilege of listening and understanding I’ve helped to make a safe space. This is what that song is. It’s the pain of maiming yourself to try and fit in, to hide ‘I will scratch and ache and bleed to fit in their mold’
There was something in my adult life that just cascaded all these feelings back and in anger and agony, I got in the rehearsal room, directed everyone on what I wanted them to do and did it. I wrote what I was feeling on the back of a piece of paper at my work and knew exactly what I wanted to say and how I wanted this to feel. I hope you love it and I hope you find comfort in it like I do everytime I perform it. This is scratch, ache, bleed and it’s definitely my personal favourite that we’ve released so far 🫀
