This day, celebrating amazing black cats around the 🌎 has been such a big part of our lives for many years. But today, it felt bittersweet because while we wanted to join in the promotion of #🐈‍⬛️ but feeling sad that ours is no longer with us.

It was also 10 years ago today that you came into our lives and changed them forever. So today would've been your 10th #adoptaversary.

We miss you so much. It's hard to believe you've been gone almost 2 months. But in some ways, it seems much longer.

Thinking of Misty one week later. ❤️🐈‍⬛️🌈❤️

This has been both the longest week and the shortest. I can't believe she's already been gone that long. We're slowly adjusting to life without our sweet panther.

I enjoyed looking back at these fun videos of Misty from over the years. When she first came to live with us, she was terrified of going outside with the family (we never let Webby and Misty outside alone). After time, it became a favorite part of her life. When she got sick, we tried to take her outside as much as she wanted and hoped that made her last weeks more enjoyable.

The entire family is doing OK, but we all miss her greatly. Thank you for all the kind words and support during this sad and difficult time.

We're still here 🐈‍⬛️ furiends and wanted to share the joyful news that Isabelle just celebrated her 21 and 1/2th birthday. Misty reached out and got her story.

"Isabelle and her sister Jasmine were adopted from a shelter right at 8 weeks old. Shelter is not on IG. They were timid and shy for a few days, so I sat with them and finally named them. Then they were comfortable and caused more chaos and fun than I ever imagined. Isabelle would race around the house, and you would just see this blurry thing run by you. Growing up, she always loved to be in the kitchen when we were cooking. There was a cutout above the stove she would sit in and smell everything. She loves watching the birds and squirrels and has run right into the windows, thinking she will get them. He loves being outside on the enclosed deck at one of the houses, sleeping in the sun. Isabelle has lived in 6 houses and always claimed the best window seat in each house as her throne!! We lost her sister Jasmine in 2021

Pet siblings Henry and Lucy entered when Isabelle and Jasmine were about 14. They had been slowing down with age, and these new little ones brought them back to life and kept them on their toes! Henry fell in love with Isabelle from day one, and she finally gave in to him. The last few years, as she’s been losing weight, he has helped keep her warm and escorted her to food and water when she got up. He truly loves her. Isabelle has had kidney disease for about 4 years and wasn’t expected to make it through the next year. She refused special foods immediately, so she has been given any food and treats she wants to live her life happily, and here she is still going strong!"

Meet our newest @blackcatfeatures furriend Mr Reets @sanchoreet a dashingly handsome 3-year-old black cat. 🐈‍⬛

We meowed on Cat Chat as Mr Reets told me his story:🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

“I came to live with my hooman during the Covid pandemic, it was a terrible time for everypawdy and my hooman suffered a loneliness that could only be cured by the meows, purrs, and love of a kitty.So, here I am.”🐾🐈‍⬛🐾

Mr Reets told me that his hooman is “allergic” to him.Fortunately, Mr Reets is hardly aware and hasn’t experienced any serious consequences due to the hooman ailment.🐾

“My hooman loves me – I imagine must be difficult to resist my purrs! Plus, as I am natural black panther and my stalking skills allow me to relentlessly hunt down fly’s, plastic, and the odd plant – skills that make me a necessity for the survival of this household.”🐈‍⬛

When Mr Reets is not hunting, he likes to play.One of his favourite games is chasing his doggy brother around the house, and then curling up for hours of sleep. 🐈‍⬛

When I asked Mr Reets if he had anything else he wanted to share with our @balckcatfeatures audience, he surprised me with news that he had a wife!🖤

We're still working on the best way to engage our audience on a consistent basis, but we plan to pop in as we come across cool cats to share with our furiends.

I'm at my limit! 😹

It's Misty Monday again, and I'm without a feature. I know some accounts have been recommended lately, but the hooman hasn't been able to get the time to reach out. And since I don't have any other active admins right now, it's been hard to feel like @blackcatfeatures is an active account.

So, I've made the difficult decision to take a summer break and reevaluate where things stand and how to get the account back on track. I'm going to initially target a return on #blackcatappreciationday (August 17, 2024). Misty plans to take a short break and then see where things go by Black Cat Appreciation Day.

It seems worse every week!

It's Misty Monday, and I was supposed to be featuring an inspirational story of an ameowzing #blackcat over on @blackcatfeatures. But, alas, I have no interview to feature.

Part of that is on the hooman who's been slacking on connecting with furiends.

But part of that is because of the changes to this platform over the last few years.

@blackcatfeatures used to feel like an exciting way to showcase ameowzing 🐈‍⬛️ accounts and help them be seen by a wider audience. But now BCF has been stuck at 48k followers for a couple of years, and their engagement has been so low that it's taken the fun out of posting there.

If you know of any 🐈‍⬛️ furiends you think would like to be featured, be sure to tag them, and Misty will reach out. All we're asking now is that they join the community and respond to a short interview so we can share your story with all the great #blackcats.

If we can get some traction, maybe we can get meowtivated to put effort into recruiting additional admins, but right now, it's a tough sell.

Misty appreciates all our faithful furiends who've been with BCF since the beginning, and we hope to fix what is broken over there and get back on track.

Hi furiends, I'm excited to share my new furiend Matcha @matcha.the.cat_ ! We caught up on Cat Chat, and I heard her story.

"Hi! My name is Matcha, and I’m a 2-year-old girl living on the Pacific coast of Mexico with my pawrents and new baby brother, whom I refer to as “tiny human.” My pawrents adopted me when I was an itty baby, after I’d been found roaming the streets alone, very skinny, and full of fleas. From the very beginning, I was the chattiest girl, and I loved to play, I was so goofy and mischievous. To this day, I make my pawrents laugh all the time with my playfulness and rambunctious silliness, and even tiny human giggles at me too now.

My favorite food is 🍤 shrimp 🍤 (you’ll see that illustrated in some of my reels!), which Daddy catches for me from the ocean!

My favorite toys at the moment are brown string, giant feathers, acorn, garbage (boxes, of course), or anything that is meant for the tiny human (those things actually belong to me).

My favorite pastimes are napping in the silliest belly-up positions, making judgy facial expressions, making ekek noises at birds, playing hide n’ seek (n’ chase) with daddy, jumping out and scaring meowmy when she walks past, climbing up furniture and screens with my sharp panther-claws, and opening drawers and doors (I’m so dexterous).

I get my zoomies every day at 6 pm sharp, at which point, out of nowhere, I’ll start running like the wind across the house, and then I slide on the tile floors. I’ll then lay next to brown string meowing until someone plays with me. And when they do, I love jumping really high in the air and doing backflips. That’s tiny human’s favorite entertainment."
