数年前、南日本の奥深い谷を車で走っていると、古いモノレールを見つけました。興味を引かれて車を止め、調べに行くと、そのモノレールの車両は昆虫をモチーフに装飾されていて、一本のレールが急な斜面を森の中へと伸びていました。椅子に座ってタバコを吸っているおじいさんがいて、私に一番前の車両に乗るように勧めてくれました。その車両はてんとう虫のようにペイントされていました。信じられませんでしたが、まさに私は「てんとう虫モノレール」に乗って、どこまでも続く森の中を進んでいたのです。これが絶対的な幸福感であり、私の人生の大きな出来事の一つとなりました。
ミックスをするとき、私はこの「てんとう虫モノレール」に乗ったときのようなエクスタシーを感じられる瞬間を探しています。まったく異なるトラックを組み合わせ、聴く人の心にカチッとはまる何かを生み出すこと。驚き、喜び、そして唯一無二の感覚——あの「てんとう虫モノレール」に乗ったときの感覚を再現しようとしているのです。
Years ago, I came accross some old monorail while driving through a remote valley deep in Southern Japan. I stopped, and went to investigate. The cars were decorated as insects, and the single rail was going up steeply into the forest. An old guy was sitting on a chair smoking a cigarette, and invited me to hop on the first car, which was painted as a ladybug. Amazing, here I was, riding a ladybug monorail in the middle of nowhere! It was absolute bliss, and a major event in my life.
When mixing, I try to find the ecstatic feeling of riding the ladybug monorail. Combining seemingly disparate tracks into something that just clicks in people’s mind... Emulating the singular feeling of surprise, joy and uniqueness I had while riding the ladybug monorail.

Years ago, deep in the forests of Southern Japan, I came across a forgotten ladybug-shaped monorail.
おじいさんに誘われて、それに乗った瞬間、世界が少しだけ違って見えた。
An old man invited me aboard, and the moment I rode it, the world shifted just a little.
それは喜びと驚きに満ちた、不思議で美しい体験だった。
It was a strange and beautiful moment filled with joy and surprise.
あの時の感覚を、私は音で再現しようとしている。
That feeling is what I try to recreate when I mix.
異なる音が思いがけず溶け合い、心の中に何かが「カチッ」とはまる瞬間を探しながら。
I search for moments when unexpected sounds click perfectly into place in people’s minds.

Years ago, I came accross some old monorail while driving through a remote valley deep in Southern Japan. I stopped, and went to investigate. The cars were decorated as insects, and the single rail was going up steeply into the forest. An old guy was sitting on a chair smoking a cigarette, and invited me to hop on the first car, which was painted as a ladybug. Amazing, here I was, riding a ladybug monorail in the middle of nowhere! It was absolute bliss, and a major event in my life.
When mixing, I try to find the ecstatic feeling of riding the ladybug monorail. Combining seemingly disparate tracks into something that just clicks in people's mind... Emulating the singular feeling of surprise, joy and uniqueness I had while riding the ladybug monorail.
