a little bit of context is always endearingly charming to narrate (or not). so, here I go. not long ago -or should I say a while ago or years ago- while I was havinga video call on whatsappto both @abraham_parker_ & @big__hands, the idea of putting an event came along which I found instantly brilliant and feasible. however, mentally, I wasn’t quite eager or fully motivated to curate any event untileverything started to click click- and seriously, like a call- with “The Journey”, a monthly show at @dublab.cat. suddenly the idea of curating an event emerged, and like a domino effect,myformer @honestjons colleagues & friends @big__hands & @abraham_parker_ , aka OttomaniParker came to mind in order to join me for the upcoming event at@shai.space on the 21st of March, from the 20 till 22 inna London.

Ottomani Parker @ottomaniparker is a collision of jazz and dub techno. Their shows and records have live dubbing at the core, blending and warping the saxophones of Izz Karpel @izanaturalskinscare and Buster Woodruff-Bryant @busterwoodruffbryant, Bint Mbareh’s voice @bintmbareh, Phoebe Coco’s voice, keyboards and miscellaneous percussions @phoebe.coco, Hayato Takahashi’s keys and synths, andAbraham Parker’s trumpet At the controls isbig_hands (Andrea Ottomani), who drops a few samples and percussive elements into the pot, and weaves it all together. We've been craving a lil dance with our friends and friends-to-be, so we've gathered some of our favourite musical minds to convene at newfound clubbing institute Gaffe, rigged out with a soundsystem and space which does this lineup justice...

Each artist has a truly special sound, taking us from pure sonic immersion, through bone-rattling dissonance and tranquil serenity, to places far beyond. Sonically that might be accomplished through the complex musical vocabulary of various strands of techno, dub, electronica, lyricism and acoustic instrumentation, but you'll just have to come and find out for yourself. Nothing beats qualia...
