We will be showcasing production variants of the VSLAP (Variable Six Laser Advanced Pointer) at SOF week next week in Tampa, FL. Yes, we actually have trademarked our technology used in this successor to the IZLID as “DeathStar™” tech. Only B.E. Meyers has this quite operational technology.From our press release on the website:

At the core of the VSLAP® is B.E. Meyers & Co.’s patented DeathStar™ technology that co-aligns six individual laser diodes into a single concentrated beam, outputting up to 1.21 Watts of power.

These co-aligned beams diverge over long distances and create the perception of a single beam with a much larger profile than traditional laser systems. The increased size of the beam profile increases its long-range visibility for high-altitude aircraft communication.

On-target illumination clarity is also improved by the six lasers in the DeathStar™ system. As the beams diverge downrange, they begin to overlap each other, which removes the inconsistencies in each of the individual defused Edge Emitting Lasers (EEL).

This is vital for situational awareness when using the VSLAP®s 2.5º flood for target illumination.

We had a chance to catch up with our pals at @ghostrobotics and put a DAGIR on their friendly mission configurable robot. This little guy has a 40mm grenade launcher on it, but it can easily be configured for CBRN detection, emergency first response, or industrial inspection as well.

A truly versatile UGV (unmanned ground vehicle) platform.

The DAGIR family of lasers are our latest multi-platform, multi-function laser and are fully digitally controlled. This makes remote control of power and divergence possible, and also allows for extremely simple integration with UAV, UGV platforms. The use of digital internal systems makes the DAGIR inherently more durable than mechanical or analog controlled legacy laser systems.

With active contracts with militaries around the world, we will continue manufacturing this American classic as customer demand for our latest variants of the IZLID has not slowed down at all

It may be deceptively simple to operate, but there is a lot of engineering that goes into these units which produce consistent and powerful beams across a wide range of temperatures while being impervious to shock and impact to be expected in military operations.
