TOO BLESSED | An Offering from Bella BAHHS
OUT NOW! It’s a 5 minute listen. Two songs from a larger body of work, God Bless Out West, that I had originally planned to release this year. The sudden loss of my brother Amon turned my life upside down and grief has been turning me every way but loose. This release is a testament to the liberation of God’s grace.
Listen, share and let me know which song or lyrics resonate most with you. Deep love and gratitude!

The Queen @bellabahhs with some powerful words for the people, during her set at Lincoln Hall. You had to be there. #BellaBahhs
Last night was my first time hearing @bellabahhs and let me tell yall… CHILLLLLLS. This young woman has a key and a gift… passion and lyricism; lyrical activism with real in the field work.

We the opera.
An unforgettable night at the Lyric Opera House for the world premiere of @avery_r_young’s safronia 🖤 an opera about a family’s unique yet universal Great Migration story and the music that moved the masses.
I didn’t just see a door kicked open, I saw a wall of golden opulence implode under the weight of black excellence. And for the first time in a long time, I saw a way forward. Thank you, blk.

#unsocialaes EP Review: Bella BAHHS
Bella BAHHS’s @bellabahhs “Too Blessed” emerges as a compact but potent project that weaves gratitude and grit into an evocative hip-hop narrative. The tracks channel a vibe that’s both reflective and resilient, an anthem for anyone walking through trials but choosing acknowledgment over anguish. These powerful singles come from BAHHS upcoming album “God Bless Out West”.
Unlike the bombast often associated with mainstream rap singles titled similarly, the EP “Too Blessed” leans into introspection and gentle bounce rather than bravado. The beats from both records carry a smooth groove that feels intentional, yet spacious enough to let Bella’s voice breathe, & rhythmic enough to make the hook stick, a balance that gives the song replay value far beyond its duration..

This isn’t your average @purpleboxvideos production. I spent the last 7 weeks working closely with @apjfilms to bring this vision and world to life. We set out to and did create a work of art that bridges the past, present and future through a revolutionary Black and abolitionist lens.

While I was doing research for The Revolutionary Column, I learned about John Hossack, an abolitionist and immigrant from Scotland whose home in Ottawa, IL was a safe house on the Underground Railroad.
Hossack was tried and convicted in 1860 in a federal court in Chicago for rescuing a Black man from the custody of a U.S. Deputy Marshal, violating the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.
He was only sentenced to 10 days in jail after making a powerful plea to the judge and jury for leniency and for abolition. I found his address to the court, and 165 years later it’s still relevant. Here’s an excerpt:
“Sir, I ought not to be sentenced because, as has been argued by the prosecution, l am an abolitionist. I have no apologies to make for being an abolitionist. When I came to this country, like the mass from beyond the sea, I was a Democrat; there was a charm in the name. But, sir, I soon found that I had to go beyond the name of a party in this country, in order to know any thing of its principles or practice.”
Time to practice our principles. We do this til we free us!
