The first 3 months of the year have been unexpected, fun and a bit all over. Some bits from the reel from work life - mum life - social (ish) life

When things are not going to plan it's easy to neglect yourself and forget who you are, but clothes can help you remember and change your whole outlook.

How you dress can change how you see yourself and how you see the world.

This week I was joined by @becklamb who describes the way clothes became her anchor at an incredibly stressful time.

Becky shares her story of her son's diagnosis with a rare autoimmune condition, their six month stay in hospital and why clothes and retail therapy became an act of self-care.

We discuss:
1. Why fashion doesn't always need to be frivolous
2. How clothes can help to take back control
3. Why it is that when your dealing with adversity it's critical to stay grounded, to see the world around you and to continue to remain hopeful that things will improve.

Both Becky and I are incredibly grateful for the brilliant hospital that is Leeds General Infirmary and all the staff in the children's wards. Becky is raising money for the LGI and Great Ormond Street (you can find a link to donate in the show notes).

Listen to (or watch) the show through the link in the bio or through searching 'Stressed But Well Dressed' wherever you get your podcasts. If you are parenting a child with an illness or managing a condition this podcast goes out to you.

Help me #growtheshow by sharing this with a friend and following the podcast behind the scenes on Instagram @stressedbutwelldressed_podcast

@becklamb is this week's guest on @stressedbutwelldressed_podcast talking about the benefits of retail therapy and why fashion is not frivolous when you need some light relief in tough times. Well-dressed is a state of mind and Becky talks about how she made it hers during her son's stay in hospital. Follow the show to get it on release!

'Some people are life changing. She just came in for two weeks and changed my life.'

Have you ever had a brief meeting with someone that dramatically changed your outlook on life?

@becklamb joined me on the show this morning to talk about what to wear in the most stressful of times (caring for a child in hospital) and how a conversation with a stranger made her realise clothes could be her anchor to help her take back some control.

The episode will be out this month and discusses clothes at the height of stress, finding your 'fun' and why retail therapy is not as frivolous as your first might think.

@becklamb is raising money for the amazing @leedshospcharity and @greatormondst through an incredible ball later in the year - if you are interested in supporting this in any way shape or form please get in touch.

Thanks @thisisdistorted for being an excellent studio to record in!

It’s #raredieaseday tomorrow! I spoke to @theyorkshirepost about our story and the fundraising we are planning for Leeds Children’s Hospital and GOSH.
The article is under a paywall so screen grabs.

If you would like to get involved with the next fundraising initiative (a ball October 2026 in Leeds) then let me know! I’m looking for sponsors, artists and of course people to buy a ticket.

What a magical day 🧙raised lots of money for Leeds Children’s Hospital and hopefully made memories for the kids.
Couldn’t have done it without the dream event team @antscops @bekieveleigh and our wonderful families and friends.
