Sled is such a special festival and I feel so, SO lucky to have worked with them on their poster and visual identity for a fourth year in a row. Having a festival in Calgary that champions artists and encourages curiosity makes me so proud of my hometown! Every year, I look forward to Sledding and this was another unreal year of music and discovery. I will now be sleeping for a week straight to recover from Sled 😮‍💨

A love letter to spring in the foothills of Alberta! Winters are long and cold in the prairies. Every year, when spring finally breaks through, it feels like a miracle. This illustration shows my two favourite harbingers of spring: my beloved Sandhill cranes and the prairie crocus.

Birding is an exercise in strengthening your attention and I’ve been finding a lot of joy in noticing bird friends while walking. Here are some illustrations of birds I really like. Can you name all of these cuties?

1. Bohemian Waxwing (You may have seen flocks of these little freaks descending to feast on berries)

2. Sandhill Crane (my all time favourite bird! So gangly and yet so graceful! So beautifully prehistoric looking!)

3.Redwing Blackbird (whoever named this diva really nailed it)

4. Burrowing Owl (a dream lifer! I have yet to see one in person)

5. Mountain Bluebird (it feels like spring when I get to see these cheerful little fellows flitting along in the foothills)
