Had this convo with @ajtracey about mixed identity a while back but it keeps resurfacing recently so I thought I’d reshare it - let me know if you relate to any of this in the comments!? Or maybe you’re a mixed person with a totally different experience 👀 LMK ⬇️

This is going to be impossible to summarise in one post, but here goes *GULP.* Am I surprised that MTV is closing its music TV channels? Nope. Is it the end of an era? Absolutely. Was it time? Probably. Whilst music videos have transcended from TV to a new online world, MTV will always be an iconic brand. It holds importance in many peoples memories, and I’m proud to have been a part ofthat history for 13 years ✨

I’vedone all my most essential growth into the woman I am today, whilst being at MTV. I went from young girl (with no experience just a fashion degree) to a whoooole woman I know young Becca would be so amazed by and excited to become. I do wonder what kind of person I would have become without the insane life experiences that MTV opened me up to..

Hosting international live shows to over 120 countries. Travelling to almost 60 countries. Comfortably standing on stage in front of 50,000 people.Filling live on air for more than 12 minutes whilst Nicki Minaj is stuck in her dressing room. Learning how to charm A listers in 6 minutes for amovie junket. Hosting over 20 of my own TV shows. Working with different teams of people every other week. Dealing with sulky celebs.. and managing sleezy ones 😅

And it didn’t come without its challenges! Learning to navigate severe imposter syndrome, anxiety, and believe it or not, stage fright whilst on the job was tough. But when I look at where I started to where I am now, it is quite literally day and night. MTV opened the door to many other jobs, channels and brands, as well as a 10 year radio career, so I owe a lot to MTV and all the teams I worked with across the 13 years.

To every co presenter, producer, AP, make up artist, camera opp, director, script writer, lighting opp, sound person, runner, exec, creative, editor, gaffer, researcher, TAM, andand everyone who makes the magic happen -on set, in the gallery, in the edit and beyond ❤️thank you for being part of my journey 🙏

We will miss MTV being on our telly’s but the brand and its legacy will forever live on! And online of course 🤩 the next chapter begins ✨ Hi 2026!
